Good man

It would be too presumptious to say they don't make people like Dilip any more. But they are increasingly rare.
But he shouldn't worry too much about being a businessman, he provided employment to people and most importantly harnessed their skills. A far cry from the IT services and body exports.
If there were a few more guys like Dilip, India would have been the organic farming capital of the world and we would have reduced the diseases.

But I wonder if our trader community would have allowed such things. In the name of vasudaiva kutmbakam, they will trade anything for money.

I don't know if Modi likes such products to be made in India. I don't even know if Mahatma Gandhi would have supported HiDesign's endeavor. The debate will be about where the leather comes from, if that is made in India. But if they come back as Gucci shoes worn below fashionable khadi kurtas, would they know?

We need to fix the traders in our country first.

Kapur and Auroville

It seems that Auroville has been the gateway to Europe and conduit for many things which are banned in Europe!

Dilip your honest expression is as unadulterated as your tanning process. You are doing a great service to the humanity, tradition, society, environment and to India. Try to develop a society of entrepreneurs who can share your mindset and tread the path you have charted to make the entire Indian business world a socially relevant and a healthy one.

Kudos to you and Murugan

Lie.
by Madhu Shetty on Oct 23, 2014 12:04 PM  | Hide replies

there are lots of people like this guy (Dilip KUmar) who say, "I am sorry I am in business", "I do not want money", "I hate comfort of money", " I hate recognition" etc etc and go on searching for the same thing surreptitiously. this man is giving us a lie. No one forced him to do business, no one forced him to make money, no one is stopping him from throwing away the business, no one is telling him to sell the business and spend the money on charity. please do give the business you are doing some respect.

An admirable business icon!

Mr Dilip Kapur has built a global brand by pursuing a passion ... and he has succeeded so very well that international brands vie to collaborate with him. He has always underplayed his achievements and here too, the same has been seen. I salute the man who has made India proud in fashion using leather accessories.
