Concepts about Indian Kings are concocted by oxbridge fanatics for the very purpose to make india servile by destroying its socio traditional polity and ethos dumping all propagandist falsehoods and selectively choosing the traitors as brand ambassadors for glorifying western and mainly english pseudo cultures as progressive civility; English were always dwarfs in terms of education,culture,civility and nobility at any point of time history in front of Maharajas of India and still they are;

These Kings fought Muslim invaders for close to 1000 years and that is why we have free Hindu majority Bharat. It is a pity that the British sympathising Indian press and the politicians for ulterior motives paint a very negative picture of the Kings. One day when people are tired of the so called democracy, the Kings will again lead us, this is written in our Puranas and will happen sooner than later.

general knowledge, these Princely states survived first by paying hefty sums- first to Mughals and then to Britishers. Before the 1st war on Independence in 1857 (I sincerely doubt even if that too is a suitable term), there was no concept of India as a country, as we know it today. There were just small and big Kings and Nawabs, with conveniently aligned loyalties- ensuring their continued Kingships and subjugation of masses.

Blanket statement may not be entirely accurate, Norh Indian Kings, influenced by Mughals and Brits had an opulent lifestyle.
Opulence dedicated for temples in south majorly, Rajah of Travancore (Padmanaba Swami Temple fame) for example

If they have served the masses well then why do we need a different system? You may find one or two examples all from south to north. But most of these Maharaja are nothing more then DAKOOS. They exploited common men mercilessly. Understand this is not the matter of nort or south indians. This division was not there then and even today. Most of the rulers have a single concept mobilise the public money for filling the pocket. This is not baseless. Adding color of northindian and south indian is baseless.

Money belongs to society ultimately, a man cannot eat more than his capacity, cannot wear unlimited clothes, cannot live on a biggest cot of 3X6 ft. cot. Whatever greed one can have, ultimately distributed to successors/govt/public/society/trusts etc.,

They will convince with time. Few like Premji, Mukesh Ambani start realizing and slowly starting charity work. Most rich person Bill Gates, Warrant Buffet, facebook founder, all start realizing. You should enjoy life at the place of in rate race of money
