An interesting article. We cannot blame AI for its present problems. It is the Ministers who have accepted bribes from Emirates/Air Arabia/ Ettihad and Qatar Airways, in addition to other Indian Carriers. First of all they should have protected the National Carrier from the onslaught of other carriers, in spite of its performance. At least now they should take corrective actions by curbing the Foreign Carriers to have limited access to Indian Airports, viz. to begin with they should make the Gulf Carriers to operate to a maximum of FOUR Indian airports - depending on their requirement they can choose the four and operate as much as possible for these four airports. India should not open all their airports to all the Foreign carriers - now airlines like Emirates operate virtually to all parts of India, consolidating passengers from various parts of the world, whereas AI could not fight against such consolidation and they just totally surrender. With their excellent staff, infrastructure, traffic rights, I am sure, if there is an effective management (I am willing to lead), they can easily cut into the Gulf Carriers business and will become the best airline within the next FIVE years.

Correct and well analysed.Just to add further, AIR INDIA should be given to PVT firm, without any political master meddling with its working.Take out all the flab , including respected elders manning the flight deck.One or two lessons from Air China, China Western, China Southern, China Eastern
Its simple, all we have to blame is the Air India management and the authorities. To my knowledge the best sector for Air India is Middle East, especially from South India. All the other airlines especially Air Arabia, Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways are always making profit from this sector. In contrast to that Air India is not giving adequate importance to this sector. The air craft for this sector is very old and they are not keeping their schedule. Its all because of the mismanagement, or knowing that they can make the profit they are least interested in making our Maharaja to a profitable state. If we can operate our MAHARAJA frequently to this middle east sector. Then its of quite sure that our MAHARAJA will claim more profit than any other airlines.

The airlines was controlled entirely by govt so its policies are responsible for its mess. So many people are taking flights and a huge chunk of Indian population is desperate to fly. The govt cannot just think beyond looting the country. Govt does not do what it is supposed to do. It has already sold the country to private businessman and foreigners. All have made money and they know that we'll not return to power. So jitna loot sakte ho loot lo.
Gulf sector is the most profitable sector, the ministers are bribed, therefore Air India does not fly enough flights to Gulf sector. All Gulf based countries are making huge profit!! Congress party from 1947= Loot India Movement
One of the best airline has been made sick by its own employees due to their security of job clause. They can go on adding losses but cannot chuck out unwanted man power.
