Indian elites are out of touch with the poor
by kalyan krishnan on Dec 04, 2013 10:14 AM

The political parties in India would like the poor to remain poor so that they have to be totally dependent on Government dole and that will help them to remain in power. Unfortunately, the poor keep falling into this trap and are getting sucked deeper and deeper with each passing year. It is time the poor realised that they cannot survive on Government doles and reservation.

See the map of inequality in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_income_equality
India is not too bad. Slightly worse than Canada and Australia.
USA, China and Brazil are much worse and are extremely unequal countries.

Difference between have & have-nots
by better thanyourx on Nov 18, 2013 08:20 PM

This thing is prevalent in countries where there is a glaring inequality between the have & have-nots. A survey in China or Pakistan or any other country with a similar economic situation would most likely throw up similar results/conclusions.
