in the country was a small fraction of what it is today.
Yet, many of the engineering graduates of those days had to remain unemployed for long or even for ever.
Today however, despite an exponential growth in the number of engineering seats, there are very few among engineering graduates who are unable to land a job before they complete their course!
So, the aptitude of the great majority of the engineers of today is nothing to write home about!
If IT companies are not hiring join the armed forces. It will make a gentleman out of you. It will not give you perks but will give you self respect. See China and USA they have gone far ahead of all the countries because a majority of their citizens join the defence. Jai hind

well said. in any case only thrid rate engineers from second rung colleges go and do IT. They dont have self respect in any case
Dont worry freshers... TCS would recruit you... Just play easy with your boss and within 2 years sure-shot onsite.... Thats why TCS is the best IT company.... Lots of onsite and back in India like a govt job... permanency is there.
I find that majority of the above 200,000 recruited from the campuses have not actually been appointed !
From the time the Bubble burst in US, these recruitment melas were mere rituals were companies show that they recruit thousands while actualy giving appointment letters to only a few.
The above news suggests that even that is going to drop meaning even rituals have become costly for these companies and they are sinking like never before.
Can't understand............just because they were billing in $$ per hour - high by Indian Standards and considered 'cost effective' by the overseas client................why the Indian Companies chose to pay - very very high packages to mere freshers, most remaining in 'bench' for a long long time and then doing 'routine' or 'lowest level' of IT related work.............Only the IT/ ITES indian companies can explain...............
