railway fare hike
by Voxpopuli on Feb 26, 2013 10:55 PM  | Hide replies

So for the time being no fare hikes...hheheheheh...so people wait this is not a fare hike real one is still in the kitty these hawks The foolish Indians deserve this kind of treatment..they had been eagerly waiting to embrace and welcome hikes in railway fare now the floodgates are open..just wait and watch every month u will feel the music and about profit in raiways.., actually, the UPA is not running governmnet they r running business (Indian Inc) and the laggard, dangerous economist PM remembers only one lesson of economics that the prime goal of a business organization is profit maximization..again the railway is also going to be tool to finance the MNREGA a non productive scheme that creates vote bank for the UPA but will economically kill the masses particularly the middle class due to diversion of subsidies eg LPG, Diesel etc...so those expecting eagerly for fair hike must now enjoy.

Review of measures promised needed.
by PRASHANT SHINDE on Feb 26, 2013 10:52 PM

Lot of measures promised. What people are more interested is the implementation of these measures. There should be a review i.e. what are the steps promised and how many of them are implemented. Railways should also mention exact timeline for completion of each project/plan.

Need to have a parallel Railway system.
by Jayaprakash on Feb 26, 2013 10:22 PM  | Hide replies

Since the existing Railway system cannot be abruptly stopped, need to have a parallel Railway system of high speed trains connecting the cities. Let both function as separate entities.

No the existing Railway employees wont allow this to happen, as they will feel insecured. The best way is to allow private players to run dedicated new routes for high speed bullet trains, and have a Regulatory authority to control the system, just the TRAI in Telecom.

It does not matter how fast or efficient the rail system is in India.
Some idiotic group is bound to interrupt the services by sitting on rail making demands.(Rail Rokko is very much alive).

Rail budget 2013...
by joao almeida on Feb 26, 2013 10:15 PM

Yes. The Congress railway minister Bansal has announced a slew of measures for the public using the rails. However, its implementation is rather doubtful as the Congress is losing ground due to serious scams even the security of the country is jeopardised by Bofors, Coprer gate etc.

Clean stations???
by piri on Feb 26, 2013 06:36 PM

Whatever is that supposed to mean?

Stations free of excreta on the tracks?

Acheiving that would be exactly akin to what a million Houdinis can do together!

UPA achievements in the field of sports:

These are gifts from youth icon for India's youth...

1) India embarassed globally through CWG scam
2) India kicked_out from participation from all future Olympics
3) Indian boxers not allowed to take part in professional competition under national flag
4)Wrestling where India got two medals thrown out from olympics
5)India forced to withdraw from Azlan Shah Hockey tournament as government has no money to buy air ticket for players. All money has gone into defence deal kick back.

As far railways go,filthy-toilets,rat-cockroach_mosquito_theft_robbery,accident and dirty_food will still continue..

No New Routes?
by N B on Feb 26, 2013 03:58 PM

It seems that budget does not consider new routes. In Maharashtra, Pune-Nasik route is very poor taking the 3-4 hours journey to 8 hours journey.
