Great Economist and poor state of India
by PS KUMAR on Feb 08, 2013 12:35 PM  | Hide replies

Hon MMS was a great and learned economist, when he was a finance minister. He cared for the Indian economy and most people liked his ideas and plan. But things got changed, when he occupied PM Chair. What went wrong?Even before becoming PM, as Finance minister he did what he thought right and we all were proud of his initiatives.
As PM, his wings were cut and he was no longer in a position to think, what he used to think as Finance minister.Hon Chidambaram and to a large extent our present President are totally responsible to create total mess. There are no jobs in Government sectors. There are no control of price rising. There are no control of rape and other crimes. The neighbour countries now exert more pressure in India. What is all this ? .Hon Madam Sonia may believe or not, Rahul Gandhi may visualise or not,all their ministers have totally become isolated from the ground reality. The respect.honour, Congress used to get is no where in sight. The political Chintan or whatever name one gives, Congress has virtually failed to get nerves of the masses. It spends all its time and energy in justifying wrong things, which emerges through media/masses.
When they will learn that, they are also Indians? Why do not they think the way an ordinary Indian thinks? Why do not they look the problems as a common man thinks?
The thinking process in congressin the interest og India and its masses, has vanished. No longer, they discuss common problems faced by farmers, students, etc.

Politicians are looking after first for themselves, IIndly their relations and close and IIIrdly their vote bank based on caste, religion etc., For India or Aam Aadmi-it is a foreign language for them.
Till drastic political reforms are brought, system will not show improvement.Since they have power to tax you-will go on taxing, taxing and taxing.

What a contrast

when NDA was voted out of power in 04, india's economy was booming with 8.4% GDP, 1st time in many yrs and this is the principal reaosn as to why UPA-1 was able to keep up the momentum, they basically reaped the fruits of previous NDA regime. And now when UPA-2 is on the verge of being booed/booted out of power, they have brought down the GDP to a lackadaisical 5% somewhat hindu rate of growth.

When NDA was in power global economy was good; After 2008 world economy is bad and continues to be bad. That is the main reason for indias economic decline .India is dependent on economic situation of world no body understands that

In a nutshell, Khan/con-gress is not attuned to real decision-making, only cosmetic steps with an eye on pulling a fast one on the masses who hv only themselves to blame for today's such horrid, gloomy state of affairs prevailing in the country,

Please can anyone explain to me that if we accept reforms all the Prices go up then what is the meaning of Reforms as instead of helping a common men it is increasing his burden of daily living. It seems Reforms are only good for the PM, FM ,Montek Singh Ahluwalia and the Congress Party as in the name of Reforms they are looting the Country. Hope our Muslim Brothers understand this and Please bring Narendra Modi to Power.

Sluggish growth
by sachidanand nayak on Feb 08, 2013 12:24 PM

UPA can perform very well on only one front and that is shipponing off the money of the country to Swiss Banks. If those accounts are opened then we will realise that the growth in deposits in those accounts could be more then 100% every year.
If the country has to turn into developed nation then we should bring clean and efficient people to manage the country and do what the Russians did to the statues of stalin.

India has mismanaged, not UPA
by Rangan Majumdar on Feb 08, 2013 12:12 PM

We vote an unworkable majority putting faith in regional players who don't understand the overall picture. Next we wouldn't allow a governmanent to work. We have everything in place to stop the working of the government, not for strengthening it. Be it the strident opposition, the media, the SC and even CAG - eveyone wants to run India. It's our creation. We can vote out UPA, but no government can deliver better under these constraining circumstances.

The former Finance Minster responsible
by P Dutta on Feb 08, 2013 12:12 PM  | Hide replies

Obviously Pranabda's style of (mis)managing the finance ministry and Manmohan Singh's reluctance to remove him from the post were to be squarely blamed for the pathetic condition of economy. A man trained under Indira Gandhi and having run the ministry under her in early 80's was laboriously trying to reduce the economy to the level of Mrs Gandhi's era and thereby find virtues in it. By doing so he only displayed his utter incompetence in keeping pace with the current modes of financial management. Though he was not honest enough to admit having failed miserably in managing the role thrust upon him, he took the clever path of choosing to be the presidential candidate and thereby get rid of the imminent burden of being declared as a "failed minister".
