These road side restaurants are not multi billion dollar MNCs, dont do any advertising and neither do they charge the amount of money that these outlets do.

Certainly, hygiene standards should be applied. But a decent road side food is still better in terms of freshness because of it's daily turnover of stock instead or average sized restaurant where semicooked food is preserved (may be for days) in bulk.
Eating in a neat and clean looking sitting arrangement doesn't may not necessarily be reflective of cleanliness in kitchen.
