Mysore Railway Station?
by xxx yyy on Mar 17, 2012 04:44 PM

Missing Mysore Railway Station. It looks like an old palace and is one of the cleanest stations in India. Not that Indian Railway Stations are clean. Chennai, for instance, is one of the dirtiest. Bangalore had one of the most modern stations, but now it is so dirty, congested and stinks like any other railway station. Maybe the article should have talked about Indian's dirtiest Railway stations if it wanted to include Chennai in it. Coimbatore is a better and cleaner station, maybe since it caters to the industrial and professional run city of Coimbatore.

bugging advertisement.

Dear Rediff
Everything is ok. But the add on the right side of this article is so bugging that it irritates like ads coming on TV some years ago inbetween a good movie.
I was watching the railway stations and every 10 seconds the right side ad is overlapping the full article photo.
What is this man? If you want people to see only advertisements then just remove the articles completely and fill your pages with ads only.

On what factors are you rating these stations as best? Is it just from the outside i.e. design of the building which was built in centuries ago? Metro stations (leaving Kolkata Metro)are world class as they are built recently. Understandable. But the railway stations can not be counted in this category. They require a lot of improvement. This is only about North Indian railway stations. Southern stations are lot better in terms of various factors like cleanliness etc. Remember, the world's most famous railway staions were also build centuries ago..but look at inside..they are world class. No doubt. Existance of a station at a major route does not make it best.
p.s. I am a north indian from UP

A lot needs to be done

It has been proven in case of Delhi metro that given world class facilities, indians are capable of behaving responsibly. So there is no longer an excuse for Railway administration for denying basic facilities to passengers.
At the minumum clean stations, working escalators, proper rest rooms should be considered at all major stations. Only then can the beautiful exteriors be considered a criteria for being best

Delhi Metro Authorities work for making metro clean as if they don't work action will be taken. Indian railway workers are bunch of lazy people. Sit and earn kind of. They take their job for granted. And it is creating bad image as no action is been taken against them.
