Why this SOFT CORNER for pilots by the Court
by Eureka on Jul 03, 2012 02:49 PM

Whether the Hon'ble Court could have shown soft corner to other government employees or Labourers working in other establishment. Whether a symphetic attitude is being taken only because the strikers are WHITE COLLERED labourers (I meam Pilots). Strikes should be dealt severly by the Government because they are earning their salary from the subsidy paid by the government and not from their performance. They should also not be paid any higher wages until the airline comes into profit including scrapping of free flights to their relatives.

Dont reinstate these Pilots
by vijay ks on Jul 03, 2012 02:41 PM  | Hide replies

These pilots went on strike over some trivial issue. the govt sacks them. now they want to come back if their sacked pilots are reinstated. what happened to the original issue on which tey went on strike? who will answer to those millions of passengers who suffered and will suffer? who will pay the Crores of Rupees reported as loss to Air India. These Pilots should not be reinstated. this should send a warning signal to all those others who strike at their whims and fancies, for no fault of the citizens of India.

If you do not reinstate them, you are not going to find any to replace them. This is the truth. You cannot get long haul (777) pilots or mid haul pilots easily. Training existing sort haul pilots (737) and make them ready to fly independently is a two year process that starts as an understudy on long haul flights after an initial two month training. As much as I hate it, the pilots do still have the upper hand. I believe it is better to shut down the airline itself as it can never make a profit and they can never be courteous too.

Fully agree. Once reinstated, they will become excess & the tax payers have to pay for their "Official" pension and face their wrath of strike as per their pleasure. Why the judge is having the soft corner for the pilots from the last hearing at least. What happens to the sufferings of the passengers? Every body else laugh and mint money (from Govt.) while the paid passengers lick their wounds?

Now disband all pilot unions.

Set a new rule that all the highly paid emplyoees like Pilots, cabin crews, engineers etc..cannot be member of any union. They are puting AI into ransom for their own narrow gains. Not expected from educated and highly paid people.

Govt Lost a Golden Opportunity
by Desh Premi on Jul 03, 2012 02:25 PM  | Hide replies

This is a great opportunity to shut down this NATIONAL DISGRACE permanently. Those who ask " What about the thousands of employees who will be out of work " , the answer is with another question " What about the millions of helpless passengers ( Indians and others ) who have been held ransom, abused, misused and treated like dirt by this Airline , the past 40 years ? ". as for those staff who will lose their jobs, they can be paid some compensation and told to go home and the Airline can be given a permanent burial once and for all.

I agree with you, this is the best opportunity to shut down this national disgrace. There are enough airlines operating, and maybe some new ones too that can take the place of this disgrace,

Well said with a small correction. May attempt to give it back to the original owners, Tatas or any other buyer. The govt. strangle hold and the resultant arrogant attitude of its employees should end.

RIDICULOUS
by Sujan Saraswati on Jul 03, 2012 02:24 PM  | Hide replies

One again, the drama had the usual happy ending. Air India pilots obliged the country by withdrawing their illegal strike and the government also obliged the nation by accepting pilots' obligation. Who looses, the country the people. The country lost crores and crores by keeping the aircraft on ground and the public lost through inconvenience caused. Country, to a very great extent lost reputation. If the government has any guts, it should not permit the dismissed pilots back on its rolls. Let there be a lesson for these upstarts.
