Reason is simple, most of the govt investments (Say more than 60%) say PSU happen only in Maha and Guj. That's why it is contributing, otherwise it cannot be even in top 5

why to leave it aside ? They are and will be the integral part of Maharashtra. If is so,,then leave aside Banglore from Karnataka, Hydrabad from AP, Chennai from TN,and so on...Just go and and visit other cities other than Mumbai like Nasik, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Pune...why cant we appreciate which is good ? e.g. What Gujrat is doing is really fantastic..its helping our country's growth..

Mumbai, just like NCR, is a melting pot of India's economic activity and it is in the hands of people from all over the country and niot alone on the hands of Maharashtrians. So the GDP of Maharashtra should be calculated without the GDP of Mumbai.

by Hitesh Shah on Feb 23, 2012 10:59 AM  | Hide replies

Gujarat had the second highest GDP for last so many decades. Gujarat was ranked 3rd in 2006 and how come now it is ranked 5th. This ranking does not seem to be correct.

Gujraths hype is like Lalu Prasads' Railway budgets during his regime. Now the real picture is coming out! Likewise one day Gujraths' real picture will be coming out.

You can..detach the Mumbai & see the marvelous figure. Because Maharashtra is not dependent only on Mumbai. Other cities like Pune (automobile hub, IT hub), Nasik, Nagpur, aurangabad etc are more generating industrial products than Mumbai.. Additionally Thane and Navi Mumbai is also there.
