what is FDI proposal?
by Amithkumar on Aug 30, 2012 05:51 PM  | Hide replies

people reading this news should understand first this is just a proposal. Final investment destination will change that nobody knows. Same company will propose in every state to invest. This we cant take it as a real growth.

We definitely understand these as proposals only and also know that no industry is set without proposal Home grown or Foreign. Again FDI successfully carried out will definitely be helpful in real growth.

If Orissa gifted by natural resources then why before 10 / 15 years FDI did not come to orissa , it is the will power and interest of state Govt. to make a conducive autmosphere for attraction of FDI

It is the Naveen Patnaik Government which bring the attention of all FDI Investor . Hope some day Orissa will be no. 1 state

@Monalisa Das, You are right... Mr. Pattnaik has taken many steps for growth in Odisha.
But according to me growth rate is not so good as compared other states.like Bihar. If Mr. Nitish Kumar can ensure Bihar's Growth infact they dont have evn natural resources and Mines etc. Then Why Mr. Pattnaik is doing so late to take major decisions for the first growth of Odihsa. What are the main constraints? Why didn,t he taking any strong decission? why is he not able to solve POSCO Problem? Who is opposing to him? evn after He has 2/3rd of majority in LA.
I think still there is lack of proper planning or else there is still some hindrance behind him for which we have to wait for a long to see odisha No.1.

So Finally I would like to mention Alone he is not capable to creat any history in Odihsa. He still have to work more and more on his weakness and try to find out the best way to get a steady solution ensuring Growth of Odisha.

In Andhra, the progress was in the IT field thanks to the initiatives taken by the Ex-CM, Mr.Chandra babu Naidu. But during YSR regime, more scandals were in operation and land was grabbed especially in and around Hyderabad. Due to this the foreign investors took a second thought. Further, the Telangana agitation kept most of the FDIs away from A.P. If the corruption is curtailed in A.P., I am sure A.P. becomes No.1 with rich resources like minerals, human resources, infrastructure facilities etc.

Andhra is reaping the work done by NTR and Chandrababu Naidu. I am a Maharashtrian born in Kerala, brought up in Cochin, Visakhapatnam, Patna and Mumbai and I ahve seen the good work of both these guys. YSR did nothing but very efficiently looted the state.

I am not from Orissa. But if one follows the Indian situation carefully, there are three 3 CMs in India who are silently and dedicately working for the progress of their states- Gujarat, Bihar and Orissa. They seldom make statements but work hard. What we require is Prgmaatic CMs and and Popularity hungry CMs.

do u know the meaning of "poorest state"..? Go see Income per capita in state basis, then you will understand.. Odhisha's income per capita is $778, which is at par with Rajasthan, more than twice of Bihar( $325), almost twice of UP ($429), much ahead of MP ($520) and assam($538)..now u see where do u stand..(I m giving you only big states).. where andhra is $1020, WB $815, Karnataka $950 and so on..

Bear in mind in Odisha, 28% population is ST (no_offense) but many of them are living in forest.

Ultimately growth is important for India. No one state will continue perform the best through out, but it will shift to one another.

But the biggest bottleneck in Odisha becoming no 1 State in India is the central Govt at Centre. All types of problem and step motherly treatment till date has kept us away from desired growth. Congress part in Odisha is always posing problems in getting central grants and creating all types of disturbance. Though PM wants POSCO to be expedited in Odisha still state Cong leaders are opposing the same in ground.Creating hostile situations in almost all projects being carried out in Odisha. Already sanctioned railway grant is reduced by almost 200Cr.

Reasons for FDI in Odisha
by Utkal Ltd on Aug 29, 2012 04:48 PM  | Hide replies

The main reason for FDI in Odisha is Large Coal & Iron ore Reserve. But the work culture is very bad. There is no political will , bureaucrats running the Govt. Only popular scheme of Central Govt is implemented in rural area. No industries in real sense want development of the State. MSME is vanishing due to step motherly treatment of the Govt. No clearcut policies for Industrialization and growth of MSME.

its centre who blocked most of its FDI. POSCO yet get nod clearance of environment ministry, Vedant Univ ($1bil) project is yet to get Centre approval, and many more projects which ve signed MoU with state Govt, is blocked by centre because they_GOTfcked in Odisha.. Congress doesnt ve any hope from here in next 50 years..once power change at centre, then u will see the result.

FDI TO ORISSA
by sudhansu mohapatra on Aug 29, 2012 04:46 PM

These figures must be from CMIE data which is based on MOU'S with Companies which remains in print only .Very few MOU'S see the light at the end of tunnel. Posco is one such case. I RECALL cmie data of 1994 wherein Orissa had this rank but very few actualised into reality.

investment reason
by sexgod on Aug 29, 2012 04:28 PM  | Hide replies

major reasons for investments for orissa are
1)Large thermal power plants
2)steel plants
3)aluminium smelter plants
4) Mining
Most of the investment is on paper as mega projects are struggling to take off from the last 8years.naveen only signs MOU and forgets the rest. only bbsr has some development - once u move out of the capital we can see people struggling to have basic needs. iam a native of orissa and has been staying here foir the last 20 years but unfortunately except in the education front the state needs tremendous development to catch up with the other states like Gujrat, maharastra, tamil nadu etc
