Best & Clean
by NarayanaRao Aravapalli on Oct 14, 2011 11:27 AM  | Hide replies

I have seen all across India many railway stations in all the railway zones. South Central Railway (SCR) is the best in all the standards. Even small railway stations in SCR look good, clean and all services are provided. One can see the complete difference of the stations, when they are travelling between Chennai to Calcutta, Chennai to Mumbai, Hyderabad to Mumbai/New Delhi. The moment SCR zone is over, the next station in the other railway zone looks horrible. If at all the list of railway stations have to be hosted based on the amenities, cleanliness, service standards etc..., the first 1000 shall be from SCR and then only any other major stations. No comparision to the stations like Vijayawada, Secunderabad, Guntakal etc.. No one will belive that even small stations like Chirala in Andhra Pradesh has the facilities like Lift, Retiring Rooms, Electronic Disply boards etc and all are in good, clean and well maintained condtion. But, this is a fact. In fact, the stations of Mumbai CST, Chennai Central, New Delhi are horrible and it is a nightmare for any passenger to walk thru the platforms, stay on platforms (due to horrible bad smell). My vote goes to SCR and their well maintained stations. Kudos to the railway employees of SCR - right from their Cheif to the lowest in the rank.

Why you are not mentioning abt Hyderabad (Nampally)Station? It is so clean and smells good??? ha ha ha. I dont accept your views on SCR. The whole of India we dont have any good railway stations worth mentioning as clean and neat. We had some stations in the New Mumbai route at the beginning when those were constructed, but, they have joined the rest of India as like other stations.

No way connected to SCR, except as a passenger/customer. Your question is probably based on the appreciation expressed in my message. My appreciation is based on what I experienced and to those who are behind the good work. Thanks for reading my POST and expressing your frank reaction, which helped me in clarifying my position to all the future viewers of this POST.

And irrespective of all the alleged 'facilities' provided by India's supposedly best railway stations, they reek of human excreta just as most other Indian railway stations do !!

I agree with Aravapalli - SCR is by far the best - unfortunately the body odor and f-a-r-t emanating from the Gults makes it impossible for one to breathe in SCR !!

All outdated stuff
by ganesh pillai on Oct 14, 2011 09:53 AM

I have been traveling Indian Railways since childhood and i have not seen any major changes regarding comfort, cleanliness, safety, etc of passengers. It is more like boxes full of people going from one place to another.

The toilets are worse, fans have been cleaned for years together, rusted metal parts, insects, etc.

It should be thrown open to private players to improve standard and bring some good revenue.

No mention of busiest junction

No mention of busiest junction Allahabad, I am sure the IQ of the journalists of Rediff is -120. Thats negative 120, they just surf information on net and indulge in plagiarisum. If they right such articles in legal societies they will be banned for ever

Cleanliness

One thing i observed is that...south central railway manages railways cleanly. West is worst followed by other railways.

SCR - Highest in revenue, clean, best service...but ignored by selfish railway ministers from bihar and bengal.
