Problem with Tata cars
by mira on Mar 21, 2011 08:39 PM

The problem with buying Tata cars is the after-sales service. Their own servicing company Concorde Motors sucks

I am the proud owner of Manza. My manza gives a mileage of 21. KMS on highways & in city around 18 to 19 kms with AC on.. On highways it is without AC. The steel of Manza is built by Tata Steel, more tougher then Toyato. I am using it for more then a year now. I have a diesal version. Thanks

You should enter your car in Book of Records. Milegae champ or what (in city). ANd it is not Toyato, it's Toyota.

OK ... do you really want to know ... I have a Manza diesel for over a year and four months. The engine has behaved beautifully and the consumption without AC is amazing ... on highways if you don't accelerate too fast, it can give 25KPL even at 140 Km per hour. The minute you accelerate the consumption drops to 12-14 but then picks up again when you steady the drive at any speed. In the city, over 25000 kms I've got a consumption of 13.5 with AC and 17-18 without AC. The after sale service is improving and they are now sending engineers to the house to check up. Problem is horrible plastic parts ... door levers, side panels ... they are cheap third rate plastic. Shockers are clumsy with noisy bushes. Though they have tried to rectify, it's not good enough. The gear shift is ugly and like a truck gear shift. So, they're much better in some departments but completely indifferent in others. This is an absolutely honest report after driving the car for almost sixteen months.

Buy i20 diesel or a New Ford Fiesta soon - it looks the best of the lot , much better than 100% eyesore called Etios ( formerly failed as Toyota ECHO).

TATA ETIOS
by ravikiran shenoy on Mar 21, 2011 03:14 PM  | Hide replies

do remember that many times TATA mechanic/show room guys fails to differentiate between a Cabbie and a family customer. be ready for a "cabbie" like treatment after buying a TATA car. even FIAT did blunder by tie up with TATA.

PS: TATA cabbie like treatment is experience of many of my TATA owner friends

go to dhaka and see 90 % taxis are toyota corolla. Please dont abuse tata only because taxi drivers prefer tata cars. Even taxi companies will prefer cars which are reliable and value for money.

Agree with your view, lets not forget that TATA cars are quite reliable, their numbers on road would suffice as evidence. at the same time, they need to reorient its sales staff at dealers for a overall experience. If looking for Value for Money TATA cars are way to go.

Being a Fiat owner, fully endorse your views. The Tatas' image would irrepairably suffer if ther dealers continue to take private customers for ride at their work-shops.

Did a test drive of it for a friend of mine. The car has minor irritations when it comes to left knee rubbing the centre console. Check for yourself if you are comfortable in the driving position before buying. Also, found the plastic pretty cheap inside.

Swift & Dzire
by Aditya on Mar 21, 2011 12:14 PM  | Hide replies

are the only two cars which have not been advertised by Maruti. They have sold only by word of mouth and by its good looks. The delivery for Swift or Dzire (Diesel) is nearly 6 months, which explains its popularity and success.
You can see advertisements of Manza in leading newspapers in which they are blatantly comparing Manza with Dzire. They are so desparate, they want to bring down Dzire to sell their Manza..which is highly unethical.
And finally, if you want to know which is the better car, you can find it out yourself in Mumbai roads.. you can find so many Dzires..but hardly any Manza. So many people cannot be wrong!!

Re: Swift & Dzire

Swift & Dzire came a long time back. Way before Manza. Manza was officially launched for sale on 1st November 2009. It was in showrooms on 25th October 2009. I know this because that's the time I bought my Linea. So I remember seeing the Manza in showroom. Etios has a waiting period of 6 months itself.
You cannot make a judgement on popularity of a car just by the sheer numbers because the cars have been launch differently. When it comes to features and comfort and design. Manza is anytime better the Dzire. Engine in dzire is definitely better than any other in the class.

Tata Manza straight answer
by Saurabh Gupta on Mar 21, 2011 12:10 PM  | Hide replies

Dont know why, people are running for foreign brand..?? India has among the highest unsafe roads...bad roads...worse driving habits..Safety No match for Manza. Its as safe as higher segment Skodas, Hondas etc. its tuffer than Corolla. You need frequent repairs pick any car, due to bad roads..many of Toyota spare parts are costlier than a 100 CC bike..Etios is cheap cost cuts bundled by Toyota. Styling..Etios is just make over of LOGAN.

though cost cuts from toyota, etios is way costly than logan

even then for its comfort in road handling, power and consumption, it is value for money

dont compare logan with etios
etios has a smile in the front, and excellent smooth curves from the side, only the at the back it little resembles logan, however it is not exact, rear lights are in 3D, resembles US cars

if u want to compare body size compare with mahindra verito, which is newly launched - the only difference is etios dont have desiel verison, verito has - with etios has better surface looks, from the side, joining the mid part of the car to the tail part of the car smoothly

etios is way costlier than both logan, costlier (40K) than verito

It's a no brainer...

The answer is simple. If you want a car that keeps going for a very long time with basic care, go for the toyota. If you are a blind patriot who likes changing cars every couple of years and have spare money to blow, Choose the MANZA. Rediff, This is bad jounalism. Have you heard about comparing apples and oranges.
