Rupee is heavily devalued as of now to encourage exports, making Indian goods and services cost- effective. As per Purchase Power Parity (PPP) method, a Dollar currently is worth just less than 4 Rupees!. So, it depends upon the convertibility of our currency which is slowly coming into effect. Dollar may cost just about 1 rupee in 2050 going by the estimation that India will be the second largest economy by then.

First it was 2020. And now it is 2050. After the severe economic downturn in the west and still India keeping up the pace... the projections went up by 30 years. Look at the infrastructures and the developments in the countries listed and compare them with the best city of our country, we will know the reality. Lets bark about this and then, sit infront of the TV watching the useless game and kill our time.

Great going India!!!

GDP/Per capita income is not the end game
by DilHaiHindustani on Mar 10, 2011 11:33 AM

GDP growth at 9% this year and projections for significant increase in per capita income in coming years is good but it does not mean much if we do not look at :

A) Inflation, cost of surviving (I did not say living)
B) What percentage of population will be earning less than per capita income (Rich get richer and poor get poorer)
C) Access to food, housing, drinking water, education, good paying jobs, sanitary facilities etc.

If we look at all these parameters, I am not sure if we need to get too excited about India's future. Population of 2 Billion, this is scary !!

Indian democracy system where poors are used for votes and then kicked or even murdered and not allowed to speak openly about their rights....
this is our economy, gdp, per capita income...
135rs/day is the cost given to a labourer in india as compared to 50$/Hour in other nations thats why they leave this country as much as they can and run to other nations,....

BJP was the party which gave the image of "Super power" to the country during its regime of 1999-2004.India started to shine actually in 1999 and only due to all kinds of cheating,EVMs etc..Congress came to Power and according to the words of congress minister, gota full treasury and market upbeat!!Now we are seeing the coorrupt nature of the Congress which is looting the country at the expense of the Hindus, as only due to Hindu population ,India is becoming Super power today!!Muslim and Christian contribution is negligible in this!!

not bad at all
by sri on Mar 10, 2011 02:55 AM  | Hide replies

Considering that India will rise from about US $1500 per capita PPP in 2000 to about $40,000 per capita in 2050, it is staggering (27 fold). The US, Singapore, South korea, etc will only increase about 3-6 fold by these projections.

So those who are negative about it, please understand this. To move a country the size of India's is not a joke. Of course we could do better without the corruption of our topiwallahs.
