Cars

Just a thought out of the way....
the fiat taxis [ at bombya ] that are on our roads, these are run for the past atleast 30 years. just imagine if they were plying on eurpoean roads - on our pathetic roads if they are made to run for about thirty years then on eurpoean roads they would have peacefully run for a hundred years odd.

Etios Interiors - Horrible
by Surya Pratap on Mar 03, 2011 12:39 PM

May be the author needs to do some research of his own .. Etios interiors are of such low quality, I was shocked to see that .. No doubt, car looks good from exteriors, has got impressive road handling on high speeds, zippy as well .. With aggressive pricing, its definitely value for money .. But for interiors, it is levels below from even i10 ..

The so called luxury models in India are already obselete in 80s and 90s in the west. Still they sell it for exorbitant price. The so called luxury in them like airbags, ABS, tilt steering etc are the basic necessities for any car in the west.

Also, the cars that cost millions in INR are almost half price in the west as our looters tax our citizens on the name of Excise, Import Duty etc (I mean the spare parts). Our cars have no resale value.

Car is a necessity in the west and still a luxury in India. Indians tend to own car to show off their dry prestige over others. In the west, if u own a car, u own a car. Thats it unless it is a Rolls Royce or Lamborgini.

The automobile industry is a joke. It moves the locations along with the earth's spin. There will be a day where everyone in this country would have sold their everything to buy a car and left with no space to drive on our great roads. Long live India.

All cars are Phoren
by Aniruddh Patil on Mar 03, 2011 10:04 AM

There is nothing like Indian cars and Foreign cars. The so called Indian brands are actually under licence from foreign companies to adopt their designs / technologies. Tatas take technologies from FIAT and in some cases from Daimler. Maruti from Suzuki and Hyundai is in itself a Korean co. In return, these Indian companies pay hefty charges as royalties for securing the intellectual property rights. So a consumer buying an Indian car pays for, Manufacturing costs royalty profits while a consumer buying foreign cars pay for Manufacturing cost profits only.

Neither Maruti nor Ambassador are Indian cars. Nor even the Premier Padmini (fiat).

All of them are foreign origin cars.

Indian Cars vs Foreign Cars
by Kompella Harinarayana on Mar 02, 2011 02:25 PM

Is it possible for someone to give an analytical and objective comparision on the most critical aspects of the cars, segmentwie? This would immensely facilitate in decision making in choosing a right vehicle in the Indian context (retaining the vehicle for longer years, fuel efficiency & servicing).

This is a planted article.
by pramod dwivedi on Mar 02, 2011 09:11 AM

This seems to be a planted article by so called "foreign brands" in India.
a) Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai in India are as much foreign as Toyotoa Kirloskar and BMW, so why this comparison.
b) How could writer even compare TATA Aria with Toyota Etios just on the basis of pricing. get inside and have a look the base model of Etios doesn't even stannd near Indigo CS it looks as emaiciated and deprived as an Indigo cs be it plasstic quality or any other feature.
c) comparison of Nissan Micra with A-star and Swift.Make up your mid first. that where does micra stands. and if the car is so good why doesn't the sales take off. why don't u highlight the feature, which you have tried to hide by just saying that it has one airbag.
Figo no doubt is a decent offering but only because like any other so called India Brands they also Indianised themselves.
c) Why no mention of Chevrolet they are on the enitire spectrum and doing as well in anyother spectrum, they are a forwing brand.

I laugh at the sense of the article and commonsense of of the writer.

by babu hundekar on Mar 01, 2011 08:25 PM  | Hide replies

We have so many luxury cars available. But where are the good roads to drive?if you park vehicle any where in this country, some stupid fellow will make scratches on your vehicle.Yesterday i had stopped my car in Khanapur(near Belgaum) by the side of the road because i had to answer a mobile call. One idiot police inspector came and hit the car with the Lathi so hard that there were Dents on the car. With such idiot people in this country,it is of no use to have luxury cars.
