When they have to show India, its always India Gate or Taj Mahal?
by SaneIndian on Jan 29, 2011 12:27 AM

When they have to show Hongkong or China or any other country, the picture will always be the beautiful downtown skyline..

Just goes to show that India needs to grow up so much.We are at least 50years behind most of the countries that we are trying to compete with.

What is the tallest structure in Delhi? Still Qutub Minar?? LOL!! That was built 400yrs back?

Over regulations are for over corruption
by Bishnu Panda on Jan 28, 2011 10:06 PM  | Hide replies

India is over regulated, because the govt official need bribe. All these are well thought before putting into LAW. I have visited 3-4 other countries, but regulations are not as strict as India. Law is strict, not the regulation. For e.g getting a Canada visa is way easy, but getting an indian passport is very tough. I wish the over regulation reduce the corruption, but its other way round. Over regulation increases corruption day by day. Just pay Rs 5000/- you will get passport in few days !!! Crap system.

by Dinesh Vijapurkar on Jan 28, 2011 09:19 PM  | Hide replies

Steps for corruption

1 MAke a law (regulations)
2. charge a fee for breaking the law

India ranks high amongst corrution as well

Mr. Prime Minister wake up.Retain the regualtion for the well being of the nation and but punish the law breakers

Its true...
by Pratham Patil on Jan 28, 2011 06:00 PM

I can read some of my fellow Indian' patriotic feelings on how the above survey is biased and why India is good etc etc... Ok... I agree ..any surveys are funded and biased to some or others... But we must check th reality as well and to me, it is no surprising that India ranks on top in over-regulated country.
I am a bizman from Mumbai and I know how difficult it is to do even smaller things inside your own business premises. For example, in a Industrial unit, one can not have a overhead water tank ..instead you can use a drum or so.... similarly, there are are tens of more such tiny rules which gives ways for the corrupt bureaucracy to demand bribes for doing something very normal.
The biggest isue of our time i.. "corruption" is actual a by-product of these box of rules-regulations.
Rules-regulations should be at the macro level and if they entr your home and office for checking how your cabinet is placed and how your water tank is paced , it is all gone.

Infact, just check with someone on what it takes if someone wants to wind up his/her private limited company and he will tell you..it is correct..it may take years..

Inidan banking system survived and world banking system collapsed
by Loga on Jan 28, 2011 05:53 PM  | Hide replies

In India RBI rules are strict and banks have shown great amount of prudence, The banks are not state controlled like china, on the contrary they do not always heed RBI’s recommendations.

The country whose banking system not only didnt collapse, but thrived is Canada.

Infact the other developed nations have agreed to take Canadian Banking system as a blueprint to benchmark their own financial system against and to implement changes to make theirs as robust as Canadian Banks.

The worlds language is the reflection of what the democracy is implemented in a country. Now the fact revealed that the over-regulated nations such as India being on the sky is a demolition to the system and the mechanism generating the results. The only words to say our nation is WAKE UP.

Pratham, I do support you. Many of indians are like chinese people's reaction to outsider's(foreign) critic comments 10 years ago. Now common chinese are not so "patriotic" to these comments. It's really sad for indians if you can not accept criticism. I do admit this report makes some sense from my own experience. I would rather top our china in No. 1 though it may belong to india. In fact it doesn't matter between No.1 and No.2.

BTW, if you ask common chinese, they would not give thanks to over-regulation of banking industry when financial crisis is overcomed. Most of us do support banking reform while you indians sleeps in the success of the past.

As a chinese, i do admire Hongkong's professionalism. If you take a look at the univeristy ranks in the world or asia, you can see Hongkong's power or credit. They deserve it because they are much more honest and earnest in profession. -IIT or mainland chinese universities? Not even in asia. I am not proud of Hongkong's scholarship cos it means a shame for mainland chinese universities. But chinese do admit Hongkong's leading position. By contrast, do you have guts to admit it? Many of indian people just label it with the nationality to cover their ignorance. It's sad for some indians. Your heart are not big enough and your mind are not open enough.

Wake up, indians. No offense.

My friend Ravi, i don't know why we blame others like America rather than looking at ourselves. Tell me wat our own countrymen, our government officials are doing for common man. Moreover, who knows if India would have been in such a position where America is today would not be more arrogant or fraud. At least they take care of their people.
