Jaswant Sinha is only stable economic minister

BJP took 4% GDP to 7.8% with 2.3% inflation and 2.7% Fiscal Deficit.

This is important. While Quoting GDP, you must take into account inflation and fiscal deficit.

Rediff, dont play dirty tricks
by anirban bandyopadhyay on Feb 11, 2011 10:25 AM

8.6% GDP growth is due to double digit inflation. If Rediff has any educated fellow who has passed secondary exam ask them to calculate.

This is very easy to do.

Fiscal Deficit is 6-7%, is not a sign of a good economist.

All bl0dy illiterate politicians are useless stuff, so how can we vote them as best FM ? What they do ? nothing !!! All this excercise of finalising budget are carried out by Babus and they take credit. If something goes wrong then they blame to that particular babu. " success has many parents but failure is an orphan.

Illiterate Rabri devi was chief minister of Bihar, who was taking care of administrative matters at that time ? only babus. These minsiters are only meant for to fatch a scam, thats all.

Vote for Best Finance Minister
by fasi k on Feb 11, 2011 10:17 AM

With the present generation mostly below the 40's, it would be difficult to judge any Finance Minister and rank them. As most of them have started understanding the system after the mid 90's. I personally feel most of them were good for their time and circumstances.

Rediff missed on name
by top Prakash on Feb 11, 2011 10:16 AM

Actually instead of putting MMS as FM during PV Narsihman government it should be "World Bank/IMF". After collapsing of Indian Economy during VP singh and Chandrashekhar govt. World Bank and IMF forced us to follow their guidance and MMS was a rookei for them. During that period whole Indian economy was designed by IMF/WB and MMS as the face of Finance ministry only.
He is still doing the same. As PM face for some one else. :)

MMS is not the best
by Nagarkatti A on Feb 11, 2011 10:11 AM  | Hide replies

The votes show MMS is the best. This is a sad reflection. It was the then circumstances of a bankrupt India thanks to Devegowda, Gujaral, Rajeev and chandrasekhar that forced India to take decisive steps to move away from Nehruvian finance management and socialism.
PV Narsimha Rao as PM had the guts to take bold decisions and got MMS to implement them. IF MMS were on his own so intelligent to do things by himself inflation would not have been so high and so many scams would not have taken place.
He was a rubber stamp then and he is a rubber stamp now.

None of the above
by ramesh acharya on Feb 11, 2011 10:08 AM  | Hide replies

Reason : The credit for liberalization and opening of Indian Economy and other economic reforms should jointly go to World Bank and IMF because they forced the then govt. of pv narsimha rao to intiate when previous govt. of vp singh and chandrasekhar had emptied india's treasury and forced india to deposit its gold as mortage to imf and wb to tide over balance of payment crisis.

Exactly !
You hit the bulls eye. The projection that, MMS are PVN took bold decisions is 100% wrong. A bankrupt nation, going to world bank for loan has to agree the austerity measures as suggested by bank and open up the economy. If this is called reforms, be it so. Alas, this is attributed to some individuals brilliance.
