THIS GOES FOR ALL THE COMPANIES:-
THE MONEY THAT COMPANIES SPEND IN MARKETING IS NOT MATCHED BY THE MONEY THAT THEY NEED TO PUT IN THEIR NETWORKS.
I'm currently in Vodafone network and applied for MNP thinking of migrating to other service provider. But Vodafone rejected my MNP request by giving the reason that they cannot accept my PNP as I am in some special tariff plan which is in some contractual obligation. I have never signed any contractual obligation with Vodafone for giving me any plan. In India any postpaid or prepaid connection is not under any contract. These people are cheating customers and just blindly rejecting the MNP request by giving some artificial reason. MNP is really helping customers? I don’t think so we are not king here but biggest fools. MNP is not effective in India and operators are not taking it supportively.
is not ridiculous to say that because of some special tariff plans the MNP request is rejected. Is anyone looking into this kind of cheap tactics by service providers? Now they are asking me to migrate to another different plan before switching the service provider. What a ridiculous thing to hear?

Please send a mail to TRAI. You can get the id from TRAI web site. Also give complaint to consumer court. Meanwhile you can threan the operator with these tools.

Shridhar, I am in the same boat (and I think you have a post paid connection); they rejected my porting request too. I have written to their Nodal officer; there is no reply; I am now writing to the Apellete authority. Meanwhile you can complain on DOT website. Quote this complaint number in your email to nodal officer.
You will get a call from Vodafone with gr8 offers! reject it and ask to approve your porting. Enjoy!

read my story...i had a corporate connection of postpaid, bill amount was coming around 1200-1500 every month, just to test I didn't use the whole month of DECEMBER, and my December bill that came in January had 1300 as outstanding amount....on close inspection, they only had reduced the monthly rental of 150 rupees from 299 rupees...I threw the sim card and took a prepaid connection...even if telecom minister comes and ask to pay the bill also, I won't pay them...decided...
in J&K, none of the operators are giving porting code. They have blocked their 1900 number. Neither one can send sms nor call that number. Who is going to restore all this

I guess one should opt for BSNL as there are no hidden charges. And once a scheme has been advertised it remains valid, not like airtel , reliance which tell u one thing @ the time of taking service and u find something else in your bill...
