FDI retail want to come india to make profit and not for our farmers or consumers... they will make huge profits by importing the cheaper products from all over the world.. for example they will import the LUX, Life boy soaps,Pepsodent tooth paste tooth brush, from Pakistan or bangladesh, thailand, china where in dollers term it will be cheaper to import and sell inthe indian markets.. make Indian factory of Unilever ideal(workers of Indian facotory will be jobless) cigrate of Wills ans Capston be imported by Bangladesh where it cost only 6 rupee per packet and sell it on indian 30-40 rupees because these brand are same in all over the world... they have enough money to clear all import and custom checks, policies manuplate the quantities by paying bribe to official, polticians
In USA they(walmart) do business of 400 billion dollar in which 70 percent goods are imported from China...

Why is Chinese goods and toys sold now in India? And why do we buy them.We should only buy swadeshi stuff. We need to eliminate the middlemen who make a killings depriving the poor farmers and looting the end consumer.

All the TV channels favoured by Congress and its anchors have unleashed a propoganda against the Opposition for their stand against FDI.Till a month ago many were not aware of FDI.MMS brought up the subject suddenly without consulting his allies and trying for consensus with the opposition. The Congress's game plan was to divert attention. Now they have scored a self goal and are unnecessarily blaming the opposition using the servile Media and Trade bodies and even some Industrialists. The Opposition parties know the pulse of the people and are not budging.
The article is illconceived for reasons below =========================================== The above Indians are either Migrants who set shop (Africa ,Singapore etc),even for that matter Middle east
They set up shop by themselves ,Indian Govt did not approach those countries to do so
Mustafa centre in Singapore is very old ,and stands by itself as a shopping centre ,it cannot be termed as RETAIL also six stores cannot be termed Retail Chain (it has to be 100s of stores and warehouses to be termed Organised retail ) mere 6 stores is a small chain yet Unorganised not Organised ======== Organised Retail is - 100s of stores ,complete supply chain management ,Cold storage plus huge distribution warehouses etc =========================================== Indian govt is approached by Mncs not the other way round
Rediff should note that all the above ,Indian Govt did not ask Singapore Govt to allow Mustafa to set up shop likewise Middle East too ,middle east economy is oil driven (atleast so far ) ,it has limited farming and mostly Fishermen who catch Fish from sea coast ====== India on the other hand is not a petrol economy has huge 1.2 billion people it has Farmers (mostly who own 1-3 acres and whose livelihood depend on those small land as well) so DYNAMICS of India are different to Middle East and even Africa (where land may be still available in large tracts ,atleast in some parts ) ==========

@Rediff also should write ================= Atleast 20,000 to 30,000 farmers in states like Andhra Pradesh Maharastra Karnataka etc have committed suicides largely due to failed crops and debts the male farmer committed suicide leaving behind wife ,children so @REDIFF and wide world should take note of =========== Mustafa or others are long term migrants of Host country yes ,they are good examples of success and insipration for fellow Indians or NRIs ,but I do not think ,their examples make a difference to INDIAN fARMERS INSIDE india nor poverty in rural areas lack of health care etc ===== India is a huge country ,complex and has problems specific to India so u cannot just compare India to other countries Singapore is a business hub so is parts of middle east too ==== maybe at the most u can compare rural india to parts of rural china or parts of sub sahara africa or rural south america at the best ========= defintely @rediff is crazy and immature people

The farmer suicide's have happened after the advent of multinationals into the seed and fertilizer business. what farmers used to get for free by saving seeds they have to now pay for. There is also a lot of fancy marketing to convince them to by GM seeds.
hey cogress fed article, there is a difference beween "Indian" and "people of Indian Origin". India will also be okay if Ruskin bond opens up a retail chain in India.

All these Shops are by PIO and mainly concentrated in Africa / Middle East . We do not see any Indian with such Business in China / USA / Canada / Europe / Japan. It appears some one has planted this story to justify FDI in Indian Retail Market.
