Who cares for the rating agencies. A year back, they rated Greece, Ireland and Portugal at AA. Now no one in the market wants to lend them any money. Rating agencies are so slow to respond to devleopment. By the time they downgrade, the market has already downgraded and rating agency only plays catch up. They dont have any credibility. France and UK are AAA with financial ratios worse than the US...let us see, within one year they will be downgraded too.

Why do you want to think about Pakistan until you have nothing else to think or incapable of thinking beyond rhetoric.
Higher credit rating may be for taking higher loans and to be debted higher.
Repayment should occur with proper feasibility in the activities with the funds and its returns.
Feasibility can be twisted through human senses manipulations and coordination cooperation regulations invisibly it seems.
Getting higher loans and taking higher loans can be a provision to get wrecked by human senses manipulators perhaps.
Normally, I do not have concept of taking loans for business, for the consistent result. When we consider tax benefits loans can be advantageous in some situations. Equity based fund raising and better commercial activities in the country, and economy boost through that may be comparatively better perhaps. Financial Markets and its Participants and Traders should be encouraged to have sustainable liquidity provisions for equity investors. Then only people can invest in equities due to comparatively higher liquidity provisions for them. Then also economic boost to a certain extent.
The countries that have the highest ratings also have high debts....Any guesses why?? Cos people will lend money only if you are strong and credit worthy...Dont pat too much on our backs. With a BBB- we are still a poor third world country to whom money comes with a stiff interest rate. No wonder we dont borrow much and our debts are also low.
Most rediff rednecks seem to be blindly nationalistic with no common sense or GK...and keep proudly claiming as if we are better than USA, UK or Aust...Get some education guys.

Indians are biggest hypocrites in the world. Entire Indian economy leeches off of the US and these idiots are happy that US is losing its rating. Even on its worst day the US will be 100 times better than India.

Look u R Economic Situation Then Told The india Is Great Or in Our Contry We Live Relation Ship We Prowd Of India
Thanks for this article, however it lacks consistency of data/information. This is my general complaint about Rediff articles. In comparison they do not provide same figures for all contestents to fcilitate comparison. In this article GDP is given for one country, import export for other country, some high remarks (unsubstantiated) for third country and some praise on standard of living of another country. This does not help comparison. Please be consistent.
