Couple more Indicators
by Prashanth DSouza on Apr 29, 2011 11:29 AM  | Hide replies

In China, every individual is equal, usually free from caste and religious profiling. Most chinese (some smaller groups excluded) are just chinese, and are just profiled based on their economic status and education.

Women and men enjoy almost same status in society, no need for special laws to get women educated or be treated equally. There is gender bias, but it does not manifest itself in terms of decision making and rights. A Chinese woman (almost across the board) is capable of deciding her own and her child's future. The problems she faces are purely logistical and specific to the decisions that are made.

China, also, has a long way to go.

China is still a developing country.
China and India are the most poor and populous country in the world.

We chinese in mainlang are the same as chinese in Taiwan ethnically, culturally and lingually.

Ironically,Taiwan was among the most poor provinces of china in history.

The gap between GDP per capita of Taiwan and that of PRC is a thorn which spurs chinese people and its leaders to promote a full-scale reform in Mainland.

That is why chinese leaders hardly boast their achievements.Every chinese except fools in mainland knows that if a Chinese is not as wealthy and happy as a Taiwanese, there must be something wrong.so,the boasts dont work.

It is rational that the GDP per capita of China must be half of that of US.
In other words, GDP of China must double that of US.

It is an arduous task.China will take another 100 years to achieve it.In addition to chinese people's hard work,China needs a peaceful ,long-term external environment.

I think,India also expect its bright future.Let us stop quarreling those things which seem need more time and patience.

Despite those concepts that are advocated
by politicians, such as nation, border, sovereignty etc, what the hell can a commom man get or loss from Arunachal belongs to China or India, let the indigenous people or politicians from both sides decide it.

Could it be that Taiwan is an indicator of what China could've been if it was a democratic entity instead of a communist state?

Taiwanese still maintain a normal chinese lifestyle, but they enjoy and exercise their democratic rights; some of the fights in Taiwan's parliament put even Indian politicians to shame. Even so, it is a vibrant democracy where both ruling and opposition parties are quite strong.

Of course, it has strong support (tacit or otherwise) from the US for most of it's initiatives.

China's probably issue is social, where people have been brought up on purely socialist ideology, but are now living an entirely capitalist lifestyle, total opposite sides of the social spectrum.

mr panda 1969,taiwan is a US stooge country, with farcical democracy. it is still dependent on USA for its defense needs. what is taiwan's contribution to the world,is it a member of any world body? was it independent 70 years ago? has it ever held olympics, international exhibitions, hosted any international forums/seminars etc? the answer is no.do not compare taiwan with china,as the former is not an american stooge like india. if not for america china will need only 24 hrs to capture taiwan.

with the top 10% of income groups earning 33% of the income.[5] Despite significant economic progress, a quarter of the nation's population earns less than the government-specified poverty threshold of $0.40/day. 27.5% of the population was living below the poverty line in 2004–2005.[6]

Economic indicators: How India, China, Pak compare
by RAJIB on Apr 29, 2011 11:08 AM

I THINK ECONOMIC INDICATOR IS GENERAL OF PROGRESSION IN RISING UP AT EVERY LEVEL STARTING FROM LOWER TO UPPER, AND WHEN IT IS STAGNANT AT ANY POINT OF THE ECONOMY THERE IS SHOWING OF DEVELOPING ECONOMY OR LIMITED ECONOMY SUCH AS India,Pak ETC BUT CHIANA ALL THE TIME GIVES ALTERNATE RESULT IN THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS OVER LOAD OF POPULATION RATHER THAN INDIA ,PAK, BUT ITS ECONOMY MONOTONE CONTINUOUS RISING UP, THE REASON IS EVERY MOMENT OF TIME THE COUNTRY TRYES TO MAKE UPGRADTION OF ITS RESOURCES AT CORRELATION WITH OUT PREJUDICE TO OTHERS

China /India can't match USA for next 100 years
by Ravi on Apr 29, 2011 11:05 AM  | Hide replies

Key is the per capita incom and standard of living , living conditions and access to facilities like health care, public transport, law and order, education etc. USA is far, far ahead on all these factors and there cannot be any comparison. Look at the difference in the per capita incom- it is huge. Since the population of India and China is huge, total GDP looks good but per capita inclom and consumption is far too low compared to USA. It is a foolish comparison and meant only to provide a false sense of satisfaction to Economists and Government. It would be a great achievment if in the next 50 years, India reaches close to where USA is today.

Are you joking???

Have you been to the USA or China?

1) Public transport is almost non-existent in the US.

2) Health care is not affordable by most of the average Americans. That is why rescue helicopter pilots ask people if they have private insurance before they rescue people.

3) Law and order??? ou have to be joking! In most parts of New York, you *CAN'T* go out alone at night.

4) Education? Just check the "2 million minutes" documentary by Robert Compton.

TIME TO WAKE UP !!!
