are there none of these problems in other metro cities of the world.there are huge traffic snarls in paris ,new york beijing etc.parking fees are aastronomical.are you willing to pay for the living standards in these cities and then cri.

one shouldn't mind some reality check. if you have been out of india, compare any good international city with mumbai and tell me does mumbai deserve to be at 7. why not:
1. Encroachment 2. Poor Building Laws 3. Civic Amenities 4. Poor Roads 5. Bad Urban Transport 6. Illegal Hoardings

People pay for the living standards there. That's where there much higher income/salary is going to: in quality. And I support it, as long as the care for environment is there (Europe is far beyond America on that level)

Real estate has become cancer to Not only Metros but even in small towns. Its alarming how farmers are selling off lands to real estate. So agriculture is getting slowly killed ( and hence raise in the food prices). Each town / city has its real estate Mafia and slowly but steadily eating the nation.
Times like this however much you hate the commies, you would want communist govt at the center.
May be if ANNA HAZARE succeeds in bringing about a strong lok pal bill to curb corruption in Maharastra and throw every one from Sharad Pawar to corporators in jail, may be then things will improve.
Yes. In terms of riches Mumbai competes with all world cities. But livability , its unimaginable.
The realty is eating the city like cancer. Industries are closing down in dozens cos they can no more afford the cost of the land. On the other hand, companies find it profitable to sell the land ( mill lands) to realtors than to run companies. So EVERY thing - from agriculture lands through industrial land, every thing is turning into a MAMMOTH real estate.
So , Mumbai is nowhere in the top 100 when it comes to great cities. I lived in the city for 20 years. 20 years ago it was a great city. Now, less said the better.
On the other hand, cities like Brasilia, Saupaulo in Brazil. Shanghai in China are marvels.
stupid article, mumbai is heading for total disaster in near future.is time tht govt should move bollywood & entertainment indusry to some other place like goa or lakshadweep islands.up biharis muslims taking mumbai back to stone age they should be kicked out of mumbai
