Brand Endorsements
by Abhijit Guha on Apr 17, 2011 08:34 AM  | Hide replies

One doesn't really understand whether paying cricketers such astronomical amounts of money to endorse a product helps in increased sales of the product or not. I do not resent Yuvaraj earning this money though. If a company gives him money to publicize its products why would he not take it ? I will take even Rs. 100/-, if say, Colgate Palmolive tells me to tell five of my friends Colgate toothpaste is the best.

Abhijit,

In Orrissa 100 Rs is a big amount may be like a months salary but in delhi/punjab/haryana/Gujrat this is just 100 Rs one hour salaey types. so you can take 100 rs for telling 5 friends but mostly from these regions won't. This helps if yuvraj tells them that this mercedes or this toyota is better car.

21 not out in final, this shows how jealous you are about his success. This 0 is man of tournament twice for winning WC side. non in cricketing history has this feet.

Please dont talk like a half mentality. Yuvaraj is a match winner. Without him we might not ahve reached the final. If you talk about dhoni yes.....He is a person full of luck . without luck dhoni cannot survive.

boss you have no idea of what you are talking here.... he is the real hero of this world cup and it/'s just because of him that Dhoni could show his magic. It is the open fact that the moment Yuvi fires with bat and bowl, india is on winning streak... check the old records and prove me wrong if you can!

All fine and well and I do hope Yuvi will capitalise on the back of winning the world cup. Market economies will determine what he can earn. However I hope he takes a moral stand and will not endorse beverage products as that will have a negative effect on his image forever. Healthy sportsmen and women have no business promoting products that will damage the health of the consumer.

Yuvraj has always been one of the best players of the shorter versions of the game. And he was never dropped from these teams. His game is however unsuitable to Test match standards and continues to be be so. Hope the selectors do not put him in the test side again. He will however be the best player in the ODI and T20 sides.

Indian team started campaign with FOUR and end with SIX in final. But performance was not world class in league matches. Only quarter final match was stunning while in semi-final/final match win by luck because opposite team drop so many catches which help India to lift the world cup.
