The poor are dump and not smart enough to run their families so why richest should donate to run their family? Do poors giving them anything in return?
Politicians eat peoples money so people should go and request them to donate not richest who earn themshelves.
About country's development? Richest already done their job now is turn of poors.
In my opinion they should invest in such a way that it creates jobs, donation never helps because it is limited by what comes in where as creating new jobs and opportunity will last forever. Give a fish to a beggar he shall eat one day teach him how to fish he shall never go hungry. Also India needs to overhaul its own system in such a way that corruption and babudom disappears and people get more clarity on how much money the govt gets and how it is used for the people of India,rather than expecting charity we must learn to depend on our own selves.

Absolutely well said. The rogues and lazy folks in India would queue up with excuses to garner free money
The very premise of the question is based on a a zero sum conception of progress. That the poor's fate is tied to the wealth of a few. It is a totalatarian perspective that has kept places in shackles with a beleif in right to entitlement. OUr country is gradually moving away from the beleif and recognizing the value of capital- human or otherwise.
Our progress shall be detremined by our level of honesty and beleif in the things we do and not by the alms we receive.
But first, let us make take corruption an extinct species.
Why you want rich people to donate. Let black money of country come out then it will be ok. People who have legal investments genrates Jobs in country and that is more important than donations.More over if polititians donate then it will be worth .
Nobody can progress by donations. Donations and freebies make people beggars. Beggars get used to begging and getting thngs free, become lazy, stop working and keep blaming others. Donations, freebies, reservations are all bane to growth of any nation.

Donations are good at the time of misery or calamity. But, what is really needed is sound economic policy and education system tuned towards industrial needs. Dole outs make matters worse
NOBODY CAN MAKE A PROGRESS WITH THE HELP OF DONATIONS.BELIEVE IT OR NOT ALL THE DONATIONS HAVE SOME STRINGS ATTACHED TO IT.
INDIA IS POOR BECAUSE THE HEARD EARNED MONEY OF THE ORDINARY PEOPLE ARE BEING STOLEN BY A FEW PEOPLE.IF THIS STEALING CAN BE STOPPED WE WILL BECOME RICH WITHIN 5-6 YEARS.AND IF WE CAN RECOVER ALL THE STOLEN MONEY STACKED IN THE SWISS BANK WE WILL BECOME SUPER RICH AND NO BODY HAS TO PAY ANY TAX AND ALL OUR INTERNATIONAL LOANS WILL ALSO BE PAID.

Wealth of Nations If you use your natural resources like rain water iron ore etc... you can become the richest but in India few politicians are having those & transfering into Swiss A/C.Already Indian Govt. cheated to Bhopal Tragedy victims by not providing compensation
