Astonished to see no hyd and bangalore. The job cration in these cities are primarily in IT and ITES. I think that sector is not being considered in this survey. The sectors mentioned are primarily core sectors.

plz understand IT sector is not a mass-job creator. When you look at overall job creation, probably hyderabad n even bangalore do not figure in top 10

Please read the article completely. It says on SLide 2: "IT sector which created maximum number of jobs constituting 57.39 per cent of the total sample of four metros". More on IT in slide 3 also. SO, IT is all over the pace .. not just Hyd & Blore. Secondly, Hyd and Blore were growing rapidly even before the IT Boom.
One has to agree it was very stupid of the survey to exclude Hyd and Blore.

Looks like some one doesn't have any idea about Hyderabad. It's the hub of India's bulk drug manufacturing /pharma and infancy biotech, good number of medium sized factories, BHEL, DRDL, CCMB, NGRI, largest pool of education centers besides IT/ITES. In that regard normal ranks about 3rd/4th in India (only after Delhi/Bombay), but could have missed the boat due to Telangana etc strikes.

Surat is missing from list. Mainly because these figures are taken from organised sector and government sector whereas large % of recruitment in Surat kind of cities is happening in retail and SME market which is difficult to accumulate.
Mumbai's most of job creation seems to be for rest of the state "Maharashtra" instead of the city itself. Mumbai is not growing at the same rate as previously because cities near to Mumbai like Pune and Nasik are expanding instead. Also considering geographic limitations, Mumbai cannot grow exponentially like other cities.
One more point to note is that Delhi is growing at faster rate than Mumbai because Delhi is getting huge government investment and allowed greater self rule compare to Mumbai. Whilst Mumbai is financial powerhouse, Mumbai's all income is taken away by central and state government leaving small portion for Mumbai's population. It's ageing local railways are run by Indian railways which makes most of money from Mumbai but least bothered with investing back in Mumbai.
As a matter of urgency, following steps should be taken: 1. Thane, Kalyan and surrounding places to Mumbai should be merged to form one large municipal corporation. 2. Give more power and portion of tax income to this new corporation to invest into Mumbai infrastructure (similar to Greater London or NewYork authority). 3. Separate Mumbai transport (bus, railway) and place under control of municipal corporation (similar to Tran

Mumbai is bullshit capital, slum capital, dirt capital. The only solution to all probs mentioned by you is to make Mumbai UT like Delhi & separate it from Maharashtra.
