Huh? Raja is epitome of integrity. Kalmadi would make Mahatma Gandhi
envious (if he were alive) with his
scrupulous ways. And D Company's boss believes there is no more honest Maratha
than the 'Powarful NCP boss.

India land of fixers

Napolean described England as a nation of shopkeepers. India could be similar described as a nation of fixers, agents, dalals and influence peddlers.

by brian crasto on Nov 29, 2010 02:49 PM

Nothing much will happen even after 10 years. The policiticians, businessmen and beaurucrats know that all these things are going to pass. They can keep their ill gotten wealth to themselves. I have not known any politicians businesmen or bearucrats being prosuected. Our policiticians have become thick skinned. Ony God can save the country

But one thing is to appriciated of Congress. Its leaders are very courageous. They do not care for any one.No oppostion,No media or no threat of Law.or Public.they go on doing scams after scam without bothering for any thing. They knew it very vell that public memory is very short and at the time of election they will sing their raga of seculerism and all these foolish partys like TDP,lau,TMC,Communists,DMKs(which are always after power) will fall pray to this propoganda and the votes will get devided and with monority votes these so called seculerists will get majority and thus the show will go on.Pity for India. And we the so called educated class go on writing in such coloums,we discuss in our drawing rooms and on the voting day we get holiday,we celebrate it will some party or picnic and sit before TV to see the spicy analysis fo so called experts. So this is just a routine.elections come elections go.the same people will get elected. Some people/party like that of Sharad Pawar will never sit in oppostion, they change their loyalty in the name of nations interest and will enjoy the fruits of Power, welath, and money.

Pramod Mahajan made thousands crore as telecom minister and arun shouri as disinvestment minister. Ram naik made money in kargil petrol pump scam. All the parties are corrupt. We need to change the system, by accussing few people no purpose will get served.

Why all this crib. Simple business formula is:
More risk/courage: More money
Less risk/courage: Less money
No risk/courage : No money
Also, it is only human to expect more and more and !!!!!

what can we do ?
by Jayaraman V on Nov 29, 2010 02:44 PM  | Hide replies

if we expect these politicians to provide checks & balances for ensuring corruption-free society, forget it ! They simply won't do. Yes, it is the PUBLIC who have to take a stand and root out the corruption by sending the corrupt reeling, either through ballot or direct action !

revolution does not happen with preparation. it just happens once a boiling point is reached. BTW, how did Nitish kumar defeat the joint forces of Lalu / Paswan. He can be a good role model !

Want admission i a govt hospital? Please pay. Want a quick darshan in a temple where the que is long? Try bribing the cop at he gate. tatkal ticketing is also managed by touts. Your IT refund cheque has come. Do pay 10% to get the cheque. A new passport? The postman wants " something". Bookies, touts, agents, dalals everywhere - everyone is waiting with an outstretched arm, palm upwards ! Do we have a way out? Does anyone really care?

just don't pay up and demand service. YOU must be prepared for delays, then we can bend the backbone of corruption. When my IT refund came and was asked to pay, I simply refused to pay and demanded the cheque to be handed over. After a delay of 3 months, they had to hand over the cheque ! Afterwards, I get my IT refunds with a short delay, since the officers concerned know that I do not pay. Most of times, we ourselves seek urgent resolution of problems and fall into the trap.

whatever you say !
by Jayaraman V on Nov 29, 2010 02:39 PM  | Hide replies

Everybody knows the reasons for corruption and its various tentacles. What is needed is a CLEAR LEADERSHIP against corruption, starting from the top. I thought that we almost accomplished it when MMS became PM. But, alas, he too has fallen into the trap and got anointed ! Who else to trust anymore ? Perhaps, DMK is collecting monies as preparation for coming elections !! Not that they are averse to receiving money from illegal dealings anyway !!
