IIMs
by arungopal agarwal on Nov 15, 2010 11:44 AM

Every Instt. cannot compare with IIMs, but what Govt. is doing for these management experts, They get a job in private sector say Rs.10 lacs p.a. or so, is Govt. changing its system to take these experts at higher grades or equivalent to IAS. Our bureacracy will not permit such progressive moves.

IIMS failed to meet the demands, says govt.

Let us first hear to what the Directors and the faculties have to say in reply to what the Minister has commented . If no appropriate reaction is there from them timely ,it would go to assume that they also endorse or say- accept the Minister`s inferrence about the objectivity of management education in IIMs ,being considered unfruitful and they are at fault of not imparting management education that companies actually need. Do we not have such a system in place to see that syllabus of the subjects that they are taught in the instts. in regard to business, finance and humaresourse/personal management, are reviewed from time to time and if need be, amendments therein as per requirements of present national as well global trade scenario, which keeps changing depending on economy status and maket demands/trends of the countries, are made. Also the visits of subject experts/business experts from world`s best instt.would help in getting IIM`s teaching standards upgraded to the present needs of Indian companies.

hehehe.. D Pundeshwari... just being a Minister of State does not qualify her to make such statements. What has she done, after winning elections on the basis of being a daughter of a famous Politician?

No fundamental work
by Pramod Srivastava on Nov 15, 2010 09:57 AM  | Hide replies

As per the media reports, IIMs have almost nil work in the areas of fundamental research.
I am yet to find any theory which has been propogated by so-called IIMs and being taught all over world.

Institues is just churing out only a handful of studnet who get hefty sums. That's it.

Not worth.
Same goes for IITs too.
But till people are getting good salary, wh o bothers about the real work.

Many IIT & IIMs graduates can be seen in s/w co. named "AXE N CHOR". Any beggar out on the street can manage like they do in this company. In "AXE N CHOR" philosophy is simple...just build a gang, and keep playing footpath politics with their team members. When it comes to some decision making, others will take it. These guys sit tight on their ass getting paid huge salaries. Any Tom,Dick & Harry can do that. Also maybe that fits in with "AXE N CHOR" tagline/policy of
HIGH PERFORMANCE IN FRAUD. DELIVERED GARBAGE.

Not sure of whats the situation of IIT/IIM graduates in other companies.

The IIMs have to play a more catalytic role in upgrading the edu.
by raman govindan on Nov 15, 2010 09:47 AM

"The IIMs have to play a more catalytic role in upgrading the education provided by these institutions"

it is not just the IIMs, all the universties, colleges, AICTs, UGCs, state and central government has to provide real sincere application and efforts to upgrade the educational system.

the students, faculty and the management of IIMs, are mostly the cream of indian educational system and the environment is Indian politics, bureaucracy, and the business.. no blaming game Sir!
