As Govt and private oil companies now will sell the fuel, it will be a war like mobile companies offering at cheap rates with value add services as model...similar revolution will now follow in the petroleum industry!

ur statement is misleading, mobiles, mobile towers can be manufactured with technological innovations at regular intervals, but manufacturing of fossil fuel is beyond one's reach. Deregulation in future may lead to voilent protests and political gimmicks
I fail to understand, what is happing in petrolium sector for last 50 years. First we put excessive tax on petrol and then what happens with that tax is god knows. If the tax is invested in building infrasture and doing reserch for alternate source of energy then we can say some day we will be free of this tax even if take long. On the other hand if we are not given tax, then we buy the fuel at global rates and exel in other field, this way we will have at least have short term benefits in different sectors.
but what is happening now is like life term punishment, that you will keep continue to pay with no chance of improvement, no goal, no mission.........just cant understand
The fuel decontrol was not in the UPA manifesto and so it has no people's mandate. The President and election commission shall intervene in this important matter as a change in the system after 63 years should be with people's mandate.
It is enough know of the present PUPPET Govt. Increase in every nook n corner from food to every thing. For reversing the petroleum prices ANIL SHASTRI says that Sonia Gandhi should see thru the matter IS SONIA SUPREME AUTHORITY OF INDIA?why the ECONOMIST bunch of ministers playing with the AAM AADMI OF INDIA?Better quit the govt.or leave the PARLIAMENT. Bhudev
IT SEEMS THAT OUR LEADERS THINK THAT THE PUBLIC AT LARGE IS FOOL ! WHEN THERE IS LOSS THAN WHY THESE COMPANIES ARE SPENDING HUGE MONEY ON ADVERTISING PETRO PRODUCTS AND WHY THEY ARE GIVING HUGE AMOUNT TO VARIOUS BRAND AMBESEDORS ?? EVEN IF THEY ARE MAKING PROFIT THAN ALSO THERE IS NO POINT TO MAKE ADVERTISEMENT FOR SELLING PETRO PRODUCTS.

public sector companies are free to take decision on selling and buying (only factor is that the govt is the largest stake holder)...and advertisements only help in their income being increased.
i agree with you that like cigarette or alcohol one should not advertise the use of petrol...but what most often these companies advertise are premium products (hig octane) and engine oil and not necessarily increased use of petrol as a whole.....but you are right to the point!

WHEN YOU ARE SAYING THAT ON EACH LITRE OF SALE THIS MUCH AMOUNT OF LOSS IS BEING INCURRED BY THESE (CHOR) COMPANIES !!! THAN WHY THERE IS NEED TO ISSUE GIFT COUPONS ON PURCHASE OF 500.00 AND ABOVE AND WHY ADVERTISEMENTS IS BEING MADE ??

but you should understand that company is a free entity, unlike government...how can you ask a private person (and public sector which is govt in private) not to do something

I agree. Its rather foolish article. Petrol/Diesel is so costly in India. But other countries get it really cheaper around 30-60% cheaper than what Indians pay. Govt.removed subsidy, but import taxes are levied heftily that makes these so costly
