Not true man not true at all, Since the bridge has been built all those ferries that needed to take people across has stopped running. Besides Bridges are never a environmental problem. Don't base your findings on your imagination and try to do base on facts

Romesh, Why are sounding so frustrated. Did your wife/girl friend ditch you for your father?

Do not feel bad, Romesh. There are lots of them waiting or you at Foras Road (if you happen to be Mumbaikar).

Would they have built it in the first place? India is a country where the best they acheive is this:
a) Ideas flowing in every Tom Dick n Harry's Grey Cells & blabbered through the vocal duct - 100%
b) Ideas being discussed n debated vociferously but dumped ceremoniously in the garbage dump - 80%
c) Ideas put on paper - 20%
d) Ideas dumped again - 5%
e*) Ideas debated & selected again (suppose this is done during the period of one's childhood)- 15%
f) Ideas lucky to survive casteism, selfish motives, red-tape bureaucracy, ignorance, morchas, bandhs etc etc - the same 15% above
g) Ideas seeing the light of actual approval, execution & completion (in continuation to point e*, this will be done during my grandchild's period) - less than 1%

Our country is having problem is, you are right, everyone has an opinion on everything. We cannot even clear the gulf of Mannar because of religious reasons.
So yes. Its hard to get things done cuz of bribery and all that. And we dont really care for each other. We need to first of all improve the quality of life in our homes then in our streets and public places. Will take a while, our country is young. I hope things will change soon
Is Rediff now making money from Chinese propaganda mongering . Most of the money it spends on these projects is collected with deceitful practises like exploitatoin of rural labour, maintaining positive trade balance thru currency manipulation, selling weapons to rogue countries like Pakistan , N. Korea , Myanmar , Iran, etc. This kind of unrealistic growth fnded by US & EU trade deficit cannot last long & it will end with social chaos & changing to democratic & more sustainable govt. which is more inclusive & friendly.

Atleast there are no beggars in china. Atleast the laborers get to eat, have shade and survive.
Besides, their government provides them with the best & modern facilities available anywhere in the world.
Anybody involved in corruption is shot down whether he is the president or the minister of that country.

Sameer, in India people get money even without working (for all classes, from labour to ministers)!!! Just see NREGA scheme.

how do you know? did you talk to the laborers or are you content reading whatever garbage americanized media has to feed you? How do you know that the laborers/workers did not want that job to feed their family in the first place?

i'd rather have freedom than be a slave with a full stomach. that's just me. and the reality is that even if people in china starve or are killed by the state we will never get to hear of them because every bit of news is censored.china has more executions per year than the rest of the world put together.
