let us not forget that the same bihar was Mithila in earlier days and was one of the most prosperous regions of the country. unfortunately the most prosperous are also the most looted ones. Laloo looted hundred times more of bihar than what britishers did. thankfully Nitish Kumar is working hard on reviving the lost honour of the region.

Guys stop fighting and try to understand the real cause for such dismal performance.. be constructive, why to fight with your own people.. every community has people with different types of attitude. Dont label community with a type of attitudes.. Its the governments failure to carry out development projects in kerala so keralites must look for a change in coming elections and elect only who work for the people.

Well Mallu's it all happened b'coz u guys were killing salaries in Gulf, later realising its difficult to send money home than striving there. With all the men gone, the kings (sic Politicians) had a merry time running with labour class comrades dictating "BHARAT BANDH", "KERALA BANDH" etc. etc.

You are right in a way, but as the saying goes, ``Jaisa Praja, Waisa Raja'', in other words, the ruler will be just like his subjects. This is apt for a state like Kerala. If the people out there themsleves do not want any improvement in their conditions or that of the State and they vote Congress and the Reds on alternate occasions, the State at one state will have the lowest GDP growth in the country...

And Kerala is an "efficient" state - the Communist always say it is "evolved" and "civilised" when basic things apparently don't get done!

a forward state
by Manju Bhargava on Jan 14, 2010 11:20 AM  | Hide replies

There is lot of difference between a developing country/state and a developed country/state. Probably Kerala is far ahead compared to other states in development, so further developments may be at a slow rate compared to other states. If you see the statistics of USA or Germany, new roads constructed percentage will be negligible.
So I think the statistics among states is a tricky thing which could be manipulated in any way

Apart from being beautiful, education and health are the only two sectors where kerala state has acheived a substantial growth compared to its counterparts.By education,i mean literacy rate of the people and their general knowledge of day to day affairs. But look at the quality of education.even a grad in mallu land cant converse properly in English. All other areas are pathetically backward.I think Kerala should take a leaf out of the middle east where a majority of keralites are working for a living..

Mr Pradeep I dont believe in jounalists as i have mentioned I have been to kerela myself personally on a holiday trip. and I am talking about the infrastructure here not the underdeveloped part. the road through which our car drove to the tourist spot was one of the main state roads and yet there were so many potholes I had severe back ache and nausea after taking that drive.

Nitish has shown other a path
by citizen on Jan 14, 2010 10:27 AM

Politician like nitish knows well that truw power revolves around development. Thanx to Lalu n Rabri that they chose their place in opposition and still harping their comic values. Politician in deep south have found their new cacooned mind set where in tamilnadu ministers leave their cop dying on road, in karnataka gowda hurling abuses at yedurappa and vijayan justifying attacks on others.. unless ppl of these state decide collectively to throw such ppl in eternal "sanyas" no one can help these otherwise well governed in past states.
