Could not understand how the last line is relevant to the rest
by Srinivas on Apr 20, 2010 03:27 AM

Dude R Vaidyanathan, are you teaching at IIM ?
Forget future sociologists, can you explain how your last line is relevant with the rest of your article? After reading your article, I understand that Indra Nooyi's statement is right, especially considering that all these thesis's are meant for garage, as Praja did not farewell.

I am sure socialogists -in the future- will also explain how Smartha Brahmin community could produce Tyagaraja, Sir M Visweswariah, CV Raman, Anil Kumble etc that are all-time legends in their respective areas.

R. Vaidyanathan, you should be ashamed of yourself for dragging caste in your bid to eulogize Prahalad. BTW, When I last checked Jerry Rao was nobody in the world of management.

Core competency vs. Competitive Advantage (not always linked)
by DarthVader on Apr 20, 2010 02:09 AM

Core Competencies and Competitive Advantage are usually linked, but do not have to be linked necessarily.

Saudi Arabia's competitive advantage is its God given Oil. They did not have the core competency of digging it from the ground untilt he Americans came in - I doubt even today teh Saudis have native core competency to leverage their competitive advantage on their own.

Madhwa Brahmin ??? Why bring that in
by DarthVader on Apr 20, 2010 02:03 AM

Could the author not have mentioned this Caste of Madhwa Brahmin to muddy up an otherwise excellent recap of CK's life and work?

The implication is clear, though small the Madhwa Brahmin is in someways superior to the rest having produced Naraya Murthy and CK Prahalad. Nothing like some glory rubbing off eh?

Kudo's to Global Management Guru C K Prahlad
by mspranav on Apr 19, 2010 11:32 PM  | Hide replies

I really appreciate the extraordinary contribution of C K Prahlad for both theory and practice of management and as a advisor to many global conglomerates.

He can be called as "Management Gandhi", who is practitioner and professor.

I had the oppurtunity to work with him when he is a advisor , his sheer belief in poor and sinciere hard working people made him to develop Fortune at the Bottom of Pyramid(BOP).

It's unfortunate to know about his sudden demise for entire management world and

My request to Professor Vaidyanathan to understand the meaning of core competency and do not speak about caste or community in building the talent and relevant management practices.

The last para of the article is unwanted.
We are all proud that CKP is an Indian and is the top most management guru after Peter Drucker. Why to identify him to belong to a certain section of the society.

Indeed yes. I am appalled that well educated Indians in a position to influence 1000s of young minds cling to this caste-based superiority garbage. A tiny fraction of a certain community in Gujarat renders nearly 100% of the high quality small jewellery diamonds sold world-wide into what they are: valuable gems. An astounding accomlishment that I am proud of by Indians, not caste XYZ.
