I'm pretty surprised to see Motorola, the worst ever handset maker is still alive and in the Market. No matter what processor and software they use, their desing, etc is inferior to their compatriots.
People are predicting Motorola to file bankruptcy sooner or later. May this one will be their final shot.

Motrorolla truly lagged in Mobile revolution. However Motorolla is one amongst the best technology company in the world. They betted heavily on Sat phone so they lagged behind in Mobile technology. Having said all that Motorolla in terms of technology is far ahead than of its competitors. Nokia etc are just mobile phone companies. Motorolla is a diversifed company with interests in almost every fields of electronic tech.

Using couple of smart phones, doesn't make you smart! So relax and don't say fool to others!
This is one of the feature reached phones by Motorola. Go and compare Droid's features with your so called smart phones, you will realize. It will be early to say if this will be hit or not, but at least spec and feature wise, this is the most powerful phone.
Remember, motorola brought revolution in cell phone industry by RAZR, which has changed the trend in mobile industry. And same thing Apple did with iphone!

Read between the lines. Motorolla is not just a mobile maker company. They are in every field of technology. It is mainly an Engineering company, unlike other cell companies that are good in manufacturing and marketing.
Bulky phones with sliding keyboards never became hits generally(there might be very few exceptions). Motorola is never famous for good phones except for Razr. Again, the cliq with motoblur to be released shortly might not be a game changer as the initial reviews say its yet another iphone mimic. Android is not going to be some magic which will save Nokia or Samsung or Motorola in smarphone segment. If every phone carries android it will loose its "coolness". Blackberrys and iphones will rule the smartphone market for a while.

i do absolutely agree to this...besides the launch of so many touch screen sets has already lost the sheen...and also they are not very freindly to use
I got following spreadsheet from net for smartphone comparision out there in market. This phone claerly stand out the best. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tIuLv6KThktwpCyNu5lbrWQ

iPhone is not good in terms of phone performance. Also this phone has very good display resolution so this is by far the best.

iPhone sucks..watch droid ad - you will better understand. I don't say moto is better either. This only opens a world of possibilities for future models from other manufacturers. Restrictions on iPhone is like Indian Politicians refusing to do their duties.

Its not about Motorola or Droid. Its more about the OS, Android. iPhone uses apple's proprietary OS and although number of apps for that is more right now(since the platform is in market since early 2007) but Android is catching up fast since its launch in Oct 2008. The good thing about having an open OS is that you can get even those features(software wise) which the proprietary platform won't provide because people at Apple dont think those are good features. Right now every major handset maker except Apple and Nokia are exploring new possibilities by adapting Android and even Nokia uses an open source OS in Symbian. The future is in open source! Apple will have to adapt to it sooner or later by either making iPhone OS open source or choosing a different open source OS.
Motorola phones usually suck but I heard this one has Texas Instrument's processor inside it, which is used in PALM-pre phone too that can be used to even build a small laptop. It has great processing power compared to the rest of the Mobile processors out there. If you get a chance go get this phone, you will love it.
I have checked Android based HTC hero..i did'n like as compared to I phone. The touch responsiveness is not good, UI is dull and I phone has much better sounds . So looking at Motorola this model i have no greater expectations

I am afraid, that's not correct. iPhone responsiveness comes with the 'capacitive touch screen" while most other touch screen are 'resistant touch screens'. Capacitive touch screen work based out of the electrical field our fingers have due to charges cells. An Android based phone can have the same responsiveness should it be a 'capacitive' touch screen. Sensitiveness is pure hardware virtue and not a OS property. Having said all this, as far I am concerned, iPhone is the best phone I have ever had.

haha, dude Android is the Operating System, Operating system responsiveness depends on the hardware. As far as Android goes you can compare that with symbian / Windows os which is currently used in most of the cellphones.

You can buy a product because it has such and such operating system etc. But generally the more practical users will judge the usefulness of a product by its usability.
Iphone costs US $199 in US but the same one costs around Rs.35000. And Motorola fix the price of droid around Rs.40000. The logic is the Poor get it by paying more and the Rich get it by paying less. MNC's when will you give it same price?

by Indian on Oct 30, 2009 12:07 AM
iphone is cheaper in china (i am not talking about duplicate iphones). it is free on a 2 yr contract and per month you pay about $35.
Re: About Indian Market
by amit amin on Oct 29, 2009 04:50 PM
Guys Understand that with the price of $199 there is a contract for 2 years for which they Charge $100/month.... Its not cheap.....
Re: Re: About Indian Market
by Soumya Sur on Oct 30, 2009 07:28 AM
Not $100 but yes around 74-75 (with tax (typically $49.99 for 450 minutes $30 for data plan applicable taxes. Yeah... it's not cheap, and if the contract is prematurely terminated another $175 goes down the drain. So, arithmatically it end up way too costly in the US than India.
Re: About Indian Market
by Gaurav Bhattacharjee on Oct 29, 2009 05:01 PM
$199 is the contract fee. And you have to pay an amount per month for 2 years which is quite substantial. So in effect iPhone is costlier in US.
Re: About Indian Market
by Ramasubramaniam Iyer on Oct 29, 2009 10:59 PM
The poor or not entitled to these technologies. Making these phones costs money. But yes like others have said below 199$ Verizone Phone Plan for 2 Years > Unlocked phone for 35000. Although US has better phones in terms of technologies, most of these phone come in with 2 Year contracts and you have to pay breakage fees. In India it may not be the case. So in US also when the price of the phone is quoted its not a gift. You have to buy a contract and a minimum plan to qualify for the phone
