Hello everyone, I am in Portugal and travel extensively on European Routes with Ryan Air and to my mind Indians can and are benefitting a lot out of low cost system.. it is really handy to see low cost innovation schemes happenning in India.

How is Portugal as a place to do business in ? I am looking at starting operations there. Would you mind sharing some info about the local working conditions there and as a base for exprots to other european countries ?
Write to me if you can share some first hand info about the place. Dont know how much to believe their websites.
No idea, what they mean LOW cost. Nobody wants to comment on the airt port charges which higher/heavier than the fuel charges. 500 fule charges...this bidding, and then reduce , diccount, concesssion etc etc. But nothing about the air-prt charges which runs to more than 2000. The use to get the totla cost reduced...King and jet have to think on these terms when they publish this kind of news.
Where in Europe people are encouraged to mostly travel by train to reduce the air pollution by aircrafts (I know that now a days they use less polluting fuel, but still) and we are encouraging people for air travel. This is nothing but leading to disaster. I myself work in the field of climate change and no one in our group takes a plane while traveling in Europe.
Its correct that we are still 20 years behind the world. Now please dont reply with national pride, patriotism, culture, and tradition etc.

Train takes around 42 hrs from Delhi to Bangalore, while by air , it takes around 2 hrs. So, who ever can afford will surely go by Air only. In India train still run by avg. speed of 50-60 Kmph only . Thats the reason why people prefer to trave by Air only , if they can afford.
low cost airlines is a big farce. they will display air fares of rs.0.00 to rs. 1500.00 as fares & then charge exorbitant amounts in the name of taxes & charges, whereas matter of fact is that not more than rs.200.00 per ticket reaches the government as tax & the balance is gobbled up by these so called budget airlines. so kindly stop calling them low cost airlines. better refer them as no frills airlines.

the share price was fixed at 155 rupees a script!. But, well that's not the primary reason why KF bought Air Deccan at such a high price. Reliance, who was also the bidder had offered a price of 135 rupees a share.
The real reason is something like this: KF had a negative net worth whereas Air Deccan inspite of losing was still in the black. The merger wld turn KF's networth into positive.
Secondly, both KF and AD was abt to receive new airbuses. Most airlines or the promoters make money by selling the newly acquired aircrafts to a leasing company and lease it back from them. With, KF's net worth in the red..no leasing company wld lease aircrafts to them. Which, means the money to be earned thru this transaction was stuck!
third, of course was the right to fly international which, KF wld acquire by virtue of it acquiring AD.
To fly an airbus..lets say between Mumbai-London-Mumbai..it costs a min of $1,50,000. With, BA offering the airfare of the Mumbai-London route at such a ridiculously low price...no way can KF match those fares..which means flying international was again a loss making proposition...Mallya was only bluffing!!
INDIAN GOVT HAVE SEVERAL AERODROMES LYING UNUSED AND UNUTILISED.IT IS ALSO FEARED THAT TERRORISTS MAY GET DOWN IN THESE AIRFIELDS AND WAGE WAR.ALSO THESE AIR FIELDS CAN BE UTILISED FOR LOW COST AIR TRAFFIC.WE NEED AIRFIELDS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.AAI HAVE ONE AIRFIELD IN JHARSUGUDA OF ORISSA WHICH WAS CONSTRUCTED BY BRITISH BUT IS LYING UNUTILISED.WHY NOT THE GOVT RENOVATE IT AND MAKE IT USABLE SO THAT LOW COST AIR CARRIERS CAN OPERATE FROM THERE.LIKEWISE IN ORISSA SEVERAL SUCH AIRFIELDS ARE CREATED BY IT IS NOT TAKEN OVER BY THE AAI.WHY NOT GOI IS TAKING OVER THE AIRFIELDS OR HAND IT OVER ON PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP TO THE PRIVATE AIR OPERATORS FOR DEVELOPMENTS.
