taxes constitute the big share of the total price of the ticket. base fare is more or less the same of full cost and the low cost airlines. once i travelled by Kingfisher paying just Rs 300 more than the low cost airlines' ticket fare for that day's morning flight.
Govt. must do something about the exorbitant taxes charged... especially fuel surcharge. though the fuel rates have dipped sharply in the past few months, the airlines' are continuing to charge us for the fuel prices which spiralled upwards several months ago. now that there is a dip, the same airlines' have turned deaf, dumb and mute.
good news : DGIR - MRTPC is looking into this matter to keep a check on this unwarranted surcharge.

exactly.GOVT MUST DO SOMETHING TO PUT A CHECK ON THE AIRLINES WHO ARE CHARGING EXORBITANT SUEL SURCHARGE FROM US EVEN WHEN THE FUEL PRICE HAS DIPPED DRASTICALLY.
Flight durations are really small in most routes the max is about 3 hours, could take longer for hopping flights. The airlines can give the food coupon usually value of Rs. 100 - Rs. 200. THose interested in having a snack can do so and many don't. THus reduce all fares by 1000 to 2000 rupees. So all airlines will fly low cost version. In select cases they can sell snacks - especially for hopping flights. Here again the bills will be about 100 - 200 and passengers will see a saving or Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000.
fares r alrady low if u book before 1 month, but threre is a trick,if u have to cancell ur ticket u will be charge rs.750 or the entire base fare.& there is no resheduling option.so when u r buying a ticket u have to make sure that dont have to cancell the ticket.
I appreciate to all airlines that they have stared the refreshment to there clients this has changed the scence of low cost airlines.the children 50% discount should continue.this had been also one of the main factor. thanks j.d.mathur 09352289934

Full Service Vs No Frills by

I traveled frequently by both full service airlines as well as no frills airlines. Never found a huge difference in customer service. Many a time queue at Jet Airways was longer than erstwhile Deccan or current SpiceJet. It is waste of money to pay 1500 or 2000 more for so called full service providers. In fact, for working execs, low cost airlines are no-nonsense airlines. They give you more time to relax & work while on (clean) flight vis-a-vis irritating meal service breaks of full service airlines (u will appreciate this, if u travel often).
Comments are welcome!!

The fares on ait-travel is guided by IATA regulations, to prevent cut-throat competetion. All these small air-lines have less overhead compared to say fore.g Air-Inadia.But cannot bring down fares as said earlier. People also have enough money to fly.Shorter distance ( upto 3 hrs) can be without any frills.I travelled in almost all air-lines in the past 30 years and there is not much diffrence. Sivaproactive

Sorry but IATA doesnt regulate fares... In India it was DGCA till few years back. but now its open market and any airlines can offer any fare..
