Maruti will not slash price of 800 model. By some 10-12 months, we can see price of Nano increasing beyond Rs1.5 lakh.

Defenitly M800 is far ahead of Nano in terms of quality and safety. Better wait some more time, so that we could get more precise feed back from Nano owners.

Nice article, but you state that the communists lost? How? The communists, in their reluctant quest for liberalisation at least brought in the Tatas to Singur. What more can ANY state governemnt do? But the Trinamool Congress, hell-bent on creating a vote bank, put a spade in the works. For the ruling Marxists, it was a heads you win, tails, I lose situation. They could have used the party cadres as well as state machinery to scuttle the agitation, but earn a bad name and make the TMC look like a martyr. Or else, let the project crash, and make people realise that land reforms and industrialisation cannot go hand-in-hand. One cannot have his cake and eat it too. The deserted Nano site at Singur and the people who are left with no present and not future there, should give a befitting reply to the TMC in the forthcoming elections. I am neither a leftist nor right-winger, but I feel that the Nano fiasco in WB amply proves that the Marxists have lost nothing, the BJP have won a feather in their caps and the TMC has been caught in the wrong foot, with Ratan Tata proving to be an able poker player, who took a calculated risk and minimised his losses, rather than submitting to blackmail and continuing with a permanent migraine at Singur.

In Nano, the Govt. subsidy is Rs.60000/car. If the West Bengal Govt. put that money in bank, it is enough to generate many employment generation scemes without market risk.
The total number of SME companies lost in Bengal in last 32 years is, 69754!!!!
The only thing Marxists got in Bengal in last 32 years is, another Marxist!!! Mamata Banerjee........
They should be proud of their achievement...

Dear Mr. Sarkar, the people of Singur have already given an answer - by voting against the Left Front in the last by-elections. The Leftists may howl and cry, but they cannot run away from their own mistakes. If they had taken the people of Singur into confidence right from the beginning, instead of thusting the project down their throats just to appease the Tatas, this fiasco would not have taken place. Mamata Banerjee would never have got the opportunity to meddle in this project. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the Leftist govt and the Tatas. If only they had the courage to make a deal in the open after consultations with the local people...

Let the people of Bengal vote for Left, Right, Center, whatever they feel like. Its their prerogative. You think that the Gujarat Govt took the people of Sanand into confidence, before providing the land to the Tatas? A group of 23 Rajput families are demanding compensation for what they say is their land in Sanand. These families lay historical claim to roughly 1000 acres of land that the Gujarat government has given to the Tata plant. They claim to have documents to question the Gujarat government's claims. that it is government land. They say the land was leased by them to the Raj-era government in 1902 for a period of 99 years. In 1911, the government used the land to build the Anand Agricultural University. However, in a volet-face, this prime agricultural land has been given up for setting up a car factory. As I said in my earlier post, land reforms and industrialisation do not go together, my friend. Land is always a contentious issue. People always suffer when land is given away for any purpose - and minimal compensation is given to the owners. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
