I am in Ahmedabad and note the stepmotherly treatment it gets from railways. We need more trains on Ahmedabad-Mumbai route and also more trains to Eastern India and North India from Ahmedabad.

by HR on Jul 03, 2009 01:06 PM

For the benefit of public, all porters in the railway station to be registered and they should be available on requirement through railway agency like call taxy. Special cabine to be opened and rail officials should be available to assign the porter and the rate for the lagguage to be decided by the officials. This is to avoid the porters fleecing the passengers.

Mamta will add a few junctions in west bengal, upgrade several stations in WB under the name of a national initiative and then go back to flogging the left & fomenting trouble in lalgarh

Hari Sheldon - hmm... interesting name... directly from Encyclopedia Galactica :)

These points in budget look very very generic, nothing interesting of any one, just moving along type...

If Pranab Mukherji also gives a budget like this, market will be in dumps...

You disguised Congi supporter, why dont you use your authentic name. Just remember we have a democracy here and every state should get equal share of development not only Bengal since the minister is from that area.

Railway Budget
by Hari Seldon on Jul 03, 2009 01:02 PM  | Hide replies

A collosal waste of time having a railway budget - this was relevant in 1952 when railways was 30% of total budget. Best to scrap this and add a line item to the finance budget. Why not an airline budget, a fertilizer budget, a power budget?

This is just a way for netas to exercise patronage and appeasement ...

You are 100% correct. It is absurd to have a separate railway budget for the country when even states we have no such thing like road transport budget separately. Should be clubbed to general budget. Can avoid one day waste of parliament time and months waste of railways time.

EVERY RAIL MINISTER THINKS INDIA IS ONLY JUST NORTH OF NAGPUR. REST OF THE COUNTRY ALWAYS GETS VERY LITTLE ATTENTION. HALF OF WHAT MAMATAJI READS IS NOT UNDERSTOOD BY MANY.

True..Southern India especially the cities have a lot of potential for growth of modern trains as people are relatively disciplined than the rest of the country and not so crowded.

We buy tickets sincerely, we pay all the money and that is used for Bihar and Bongal where 75% travel without tickets.
