That Mumbai's roads are a mess is an understatement.
It's a no-brainer that half the mess is on account of the poliTICKS, bureauTWATS and bureaucRATS abounding and freewheeling in the city's sewers and septic tanks.
They get their pay and payola for doing bug-all for the city, except chewing pan and spitting tope ka golas on the streets and white-washed walls or vandalising whoever comes in their way.
But, worse, the country's richest city's been overrun by a local tapori-guttery culture -- that was brought-in in 1977 -- has seeped-in deep into every personal pore, leaving utsiders gaping and gawking on the roads in disbelief.
On June 26th and 27th 2008, instead of being in Wellington near Ooty in Tamil Nadu, a pathetic Prez made her presence felt in Mumbai and held us for ransom on the roads for hours due to some protocol that dictates that the roads must be clear for 30 minutes when her V VIP convoy is to pass by.
Then because of the Patil-Patil "kai-rey kasa-kai" thingy with the D Y Patils she did a repeat performance of the horrible traffic jams on July 7th both in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
Again yesterday (29th June 2009) every appointment of mine was horrendously delayed for this democratic maharani.
finally civic authorities are doing something for mumbai. We should encourage there efforts.Mumbai always rocks watever happens and in the end the its just beginning of the sealink...so we should keep patience. Its is easy to criticise. So if someone is doing please have guts and speak in front of authorities or tell the engineers.I hope sealink will be successful

What "guts" are you talking about ? Maybe ppl like you may require some special "guts" for talking to authorities. Ppl don't talk to these guys coz it's a sheer waste of time !!!
As its a trial day, I bet many people who wanted to be the first to experience it too must have decided to be in line due to which the traffic snarl. So we cannot blame anyone for it, but as the days go by and if the situation is the same than we can say that something is wrong somewhere in the plan. Hope it wont be so.
No toll for following reasons... 1) We are paying Tax, so WHY TOLL 2) without Toll today we see so much of trafic jams, then with toll there will more and more, so WHY TOLL 3) time wasted in paying toll, so WHY TOLL 4) already payed tax for Vehicle, so WHY TOLL
