Obama = Protectionist
by san man on Feb 25, 2009 01:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

What Obama doesn't understand is that if he blocks imports and outsourcing with the rest of the world, then the rest of the world will do the same thing and block US goods and services. It's not a one-way street, and he doesn't seem to understand that.

OK block imports from USA, but what USA exports ? Mainly weapons and techonology.
and in contrast what we export to USA.
USA can live without imports, but we can't

The 'software' was invented by Americans. Indians achieve little and brag a lot, chinese achieve a lot but keeps silence.

Goo point. Well said. Indians brag too much. They must learn to be humble like chinese.Every Indian yuppy thinks they are in a country like US forgetting about the 70% poor population and lack of clean water and toilets for every body. Some of them even go to the extent of saying "why should we do inferior thinks like manufacturing? We are so good in English service industry is the most suited."

hey genius, blocking outsourcing is a protectionist act, against the free flow of goods and services. By blocking the access of Indian service providers to the US market, he's only setting the stage for others to block US access to their markets.

america will never recover( same for UK).. they have systemetically destroyed their comptetiveness and effectiveness thru their obsession with social engineering and do-gooding political correctness..
they have been continuously degrading hard work and enterprise! they have pampered underperformers with loads of excuses! if ur a black.. a woman or from some other neo-privileged class.. you dont need to work hard! you can blackmail and extort your employers under the loads of blakmail and extortion friendly laws.. you cant be tasked hard you cant be made unhappy in any way! even if you dont work you have welfare allowances to take care of you in style! so why work hard? why be creative? why try that little bit harder?

why are american firms outsourcing? for the heck of it? if tomorrow they ban outsourcing what will happen? for sometime employment will increase locally in the US .. after that? their products and services will deteriorate in quality - price - delivery standards.. and the outside world will stop buying ! ok..the domestic market will take care of things for sometime..then? it will slowly become like india of the 60s and 70s.. and their pampered dead beats will still want to consume more and more and live like kings! and one day the economy will implode!
the time is comign when american and british white males will become bonded laboureres and beg!

Well said. Look at the current President, only qualification he has is that he is half-black. He has done nothing in his life. Idiot indians in US voted and rooted for him. First thing he does is reducing h1B VISAs and then axe on software export. Although I am of the opinion that he can't stop software export because companies which have benefited will continue.

Obama's speech was spectacular....
by SS Kumar on Feb 25, 2009 01:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Obama's speech was impressive, spectacular & convincing because he spoke virtually extem- pore over the 80 minutes duration. This showed his key commitment to his nation's rebuild- ing.How many of PMs can do it without reading from the pre-prepared text like a school headmaster ? The one who comes close to Obama is P. Chidambaram about being able to speak with conviction.

by piri on Feb 25, 2009 01:42 PM  Permalink
Chidambaram speaks with conviction arising from his unwavering resolve to steal from the poor for the cause of the rich (and gain immensely in the bargain). It is also his conviction that the persective power of the poor in India will remain woefully inadequate for all eternity (and this could turn out to be true eventually).

As for Obama's conviction, it may be too early to form an opinion about it.

What he is proposing is anti-enterprising. In other terms it is called socialism. Who the hell are you to my hardened money to give to welfare people who do not want to work or produce 14 kids so that govt can raise them.

"Politician is one who tells you to go to hell in such a way that you're looking forward to the trip"

It was spectacular. However, we have to wait and see whetehr he would be successful. We had PMs like Nehru, Indira, Rajiv, Manmohan having good vision. I thought Vajpayee would be different and better. But he was a mere PM.
