CENTRAL BUDGET DISAPPOINTING - MORE SOPS EXPECTED
by jamsheed abumohammed on Feb 16, 2009 04:28 PM

Pranab Mukherjee did not live upto his reputation. He came out with an insipid and lack lusture budget. It has no relief for tax payers, particularly when the elections are round the corner. There was much expectations from all concerned. But Govt felt otherwise and put up a routine of the mill interim budget, which did not appeal to any. India Inc was totally disappointed and expectedly sensex plummeted. It was a rare opportunity for him to have presented a popular and appealing budget that would have given hope to industries and salary earning class that they meant for aam admi. But it was not to be. One does not know how the man in the street would react at the ballot in a few months' time. It appears that due care has not been taken by UPA or Sonia Gandhi. This important interim budget could be so lack lusture, nobody expected least of all the common man. Perhaps Lalu did a better job in giving some relief to commuters and A/C travellers. Yet he showed a surplus budget. May be he is the first of Railway Ministers who ran the ministry on modern managements principles and earned sizable profit. He is a man to counted on for future assignment. He can be a better Finance Minister. Once UPA wins the next elections, he must either continue to be Railway Minister or be elevated to Finance Minister. He knows better management of funds than anyone else in the UPA govt. Lets hope that this interim budget would not in any way affect the chances of UPA and allies in the elections.

focus on aam aadmi: Govt
by Rajesh Kumar on Feb 16, 2009 04:27 PM

Very rightly said, Congress focus is on Aam Aadmi and it is going to screw Aam Aadmi left right and centre. It is Aam Aadmi which is crying for its mistake did in last election by voting for Congress.

Rahul Gandhi achievemnt is that he enters anybody's house and make them realise look God has come to your house. Poor are pressurised for making home food and then money is paid, deal is done. best way to bribe voters.

Because, party loves Aam Aadmi so much that he continued dying blast after blast in 2008 and party was thinking of its vote bank. It was Aam Aadmi which protected these goonsin white when Parliament was attacked, but then Afzal is served Biryani. A nationlist Jammu wala was beaten for separatist valley wala.

Moreover, maximum people sucides in Maharastra. They allocated 60,000 crores for farmers but what happened. The amount was allocted to big farmers like Laloo, Sharad & Ram Vilas. How do you know that money was not transferred in Sonia Gandhi tens of trusts.

God bless aam aadmi!

this is a good budget
by Forrest Gump on Feb 16, 2009 04:25 PM  | Hide replies

1. it eliminates all those short cut sops given for the benefit of the upper middle class and which benefit businessmen tremendously and they continue their expolitation. now with the prevailing recession all this will stop for good.

2. all the govt scehemes for the rural india have been revived which is good.

3. defenc e budget is increases which is great considering more needs to be spent to control terrorism from across the borders.

4. subsidies on food, petroleum ect will keep the prices in check under the current worldwide recession scenario.

this budget may sound conservative but thats what is exactly needed to make India emerge stronger out of this recession.

Mr. how can you say sops given to upper / middle class.....

This class is in high tax slabs as compared to low slab given to lower class....

Secondly exemptions given are common to everyone.

the new vote on account budget.
by Inapakutiki Raju on Feb 16, 2009 04:22 PM

It appears from the new vote on account budget that our politicians have been overwhelmingly successful in ensuring that the governments that they run are always having scope to spend on Agriculture, rural development, Poverty removal, protected drinking water, child and mother development, etc. etc.. Is it not true that they have been fooling the Indian Voters since 60 years with these schemes that ensure the perpetual dependence and keep our fellow Indians far from self sufficiency?
Where is the reason for Rs.30/- a kilo rice and for Rs.2/- a kilo rice sold through PDF?
