Are banks going to use this?
by Vote India on May 27, 2009 07:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I guess there is no concept of pre-payment every 3 months, 6 months, except in case of Home Loans. Does this one apply for Personal loans too???

you can pre-pay only a housing loan and not any other loan. This facility is not available in Personal & Auto loans

I'm no expert, but I think that you usually can't make part pre-payments on a personal loan So for a personal loan, you'll have to choose the option to pay off loan completely if you plan to do so.

You need to check with your bank before taking the loan, in case if you had already taken without reading T&C, this is the time to do that. Alternatively you can call-up your bank to check this out.

EMI Calculator
by dipesh deliwala on May 27, 2009 05:08 PM  Permalink

EMI calculator is good and requires some modification. It requires an editable field for an interest and Pre-payment for each month. As you are aware for floating the ROI is changeing everymonth and for Pre-payment is depends on surplus amount available in month. I hope everyone agrees

This calculator uses a monthly reducing balance. You'll see this if you mouse-over the clue-tip next to interest rate.

EMI Calculator - Shortcomings
by Sanjeev Vyas on May 20, 2009 07:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Please incorporate the folling, which are very essential and to make it more realistic.
1) Service tax is levied on processing fee. it is an outflow and needs to be incorporated.
2) the calculator does not give option for moratorium period.
