Mr. sam pitroda is one of the most respectable and sincere personalities/thinkers and fortunately now our education minister is kapil sibbal so this combination can be going great like once combination of our most respectable President Sh.Abdul Kalam and PM Manmohan Singh Ji. re.leadership,at higher level there are ICS officers, say,IAS,IFS,IPS, IRS,etc. and in case of engineering and and medical line there are management courses after degree. like, students complete MBA after engineering; yes, these are management courses, a little bit different than leadership courses so we can add syllabus of subjects like psychology, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, etc. in their courses.
Sam is absolutely right. Most ministers just hang on to thir portfolios without shedding any thought on what they can do to make their ministry make the max positive impact on Indian society. It is nice to see Kapil Sibal taking the holistic approach in the field of education, after Lalu Prasad revolutionized the working of the Railways. We need more people like them in india.

What crap! Goondalal Lalu Prasad couldn't even figure out how to efficiently collect the dung from his large herd of cows far less to "revoluonize' the railways. Even, now out his cushy office as Rail Minister, he disavows all the lies that were told about the great developments at the railways during his stint. It was the BJP-NDA govt which laid the ground-work for the successful turn-round of the railways, not the criminal Lalu. Just ask the poor Bihar how he 'revolutionized' the govt machinery of that state.

This is the tragedy of India. Our national pastime is to keep running down others or "gridding" them into BJP-NDA or caste boxes. Just look at what Railways was before Lalu took over and the state when he left the Ministry and see and appreciate the difference. Please keep the mental cow dung aside in your analysis. By any yardstick, he did an outstanding job.

pls. don't wait for what others should do, just do it yourself at your level best. take your responsibility,be active. don't hope from others actions;this is the only best solution.
India can produce leaders but our bureacratic system and political leaders acceptance is a big question. They do not permit anyone to flourish. Therefore everywhere in Ministries IAS are fuling. Professionals are no where.

People look to IAS, IPS and other Civil Services to provide leadership. The selection process- Examination and PI are biased in favour of the liberal arts education. So Sam should draw on this huge pool of Govt. Servants to provide the kind of leadership that he wants. If the Bureaucracy can become relevant to India's aspiration then we as a nation will not have a dearth of leaders.

sam pitroda and Dr.gupta, both are professionals but took pain to take initiatives, came forward and never complain the systems. we'll have to stand firm continously and no one can ignore anymore.Just try but not half heartedly.
IT IS TRUE THAT THERE MUST BE A NEED OF EFFICIENT AND WELL ESTABLISHED LEADER AT VARIOUS LEVELS IN INDIA BUT IT CAN NOT BE A SALVATION OF PUTTING OFF PROBLEMS BECAUSE A PERSON CAN NEVER KEEP OFF AN INTEGRETED PROBLEMS ALONGY WHEREFOR THERE MUST BE A NEED OF CO-OPPRATION AND CO-ORDINATION IN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ALONG WITH UNIVERSAL OR POPULATON PLANNING OTHERWISE ANY LEADER WLII HAVE BECOME STAGNANT AS HE/SHE CAN ONLY LEAD AN INTREGATED SYSTEM TO A PRTICULAR WAY THROUGH OUT THE UNIT BUT NOW IF THERE WERE LOOPHOLES IN THE SYSTEM, THE SYSTEM COULD HAVE BROKEN OUT ANY TIME EVEN THOUGH THE LEADER WAS DRIVING THAT ON THE SYSTEMETIC WAY, SO UNTIL WE CAN APPLY COMMUTATIVE AND ASSOCIATIVE LAWS TO THE SYSTEM THROUGH OUT THE UNIT LEVEL A LEADER CAN NOT SUCCEED IN PERFORMING ITS WAY AND IF FAILED IN DOING THAT LACK OF AFORSAID LAWS HE /SHE MUST HAVE BECOME ILLED AT MANY LEVELS.

karunanidhi, mayawati, lalu yadav, om prakash chautala, prakash singh badal, maharani sindhiya(ex. cm of rajasthan)all are same/shameless creations of our corrupt system and castism. unfortunately, the dynasty system is not going to vanish from India so their heirs will prove worst for Indians.

Whats in a name after all? Amit, please try to see the bigger picture.Tomorrow, if they rename Taj Mahal to lets say "chowki patti" will its beauty fade away?
Every person has a right to decide what his/her name is.
