They have had 'pandemics' such as BSE, Saars, Bird flu, etc. and now they have Swine flu !
None of these 'pandemics' have had any effect in India and neither will 'Swine flu' have any !

1918 Pandemic flu(also known as Sapnish flu) 5% Indian polulation died. At that time India, less than 5% of population is in the cities. Rural India was completely isolated becuase of the lack of the modern transporation facilies. Now the situation is completely different. We should not under estimate the threat of this flu. At the same time panicking wihtout complete info helps either. We should take all the precausions. Go to CDC(Center for disease control, US govt web site) or WHO web site for more info on this flu.

Actually WHO or any other countries scientific community who is forerunner in H1N1 virus research said that it is not possible in India. You should check the fact before put in news item. just search in Google or wikipedia you will get tons of information. Do you know about the spanish flu pandemic. wiki says that about 1,70,00,000 dead toll in INDIA. it is another subtype of H1N1. I think some foolish politician might have told. I think providing false news with out checking the fact is unethical and act of irresponsibility. you should correct it.

Is not going decimate the humanity. In Mexico, original death count was close to 150, today's recount is down to 12, or even less due to Swine Flue. Last year's death toll due to regular flue in USA- 3500! The media being stupid can't discriminate the news. Typical example if Rediff F heads who are always picking on Hindus1 and BJP.

The only reason it is called swine flu is because of the fact that the virus is a combination of the human and the pig flu virus. Transmission is very rarely from eating pork but from usual ways flu is transmitted.

if you count other forms of death in any country, no war, flu or temporary event causes more havoc than malnutrition and climate change. Most western scientists go about inventing methods to combat the symptoms, while we dont even need sophisticated technology to prevent or blunt the damage that can be caused. Just plain old planting trees is more than enough. But it's neither hot sizzling sexy, nor is it cool impressive technology.
Tomorrow let us say you cook up a research paper that says this: If you screw 2 times a week (this is the shit that newspapers throw at us, produced verbatim) you can reduce the chances of AIDS by planting trees - because young potent plant seeds, being naturally fertile, release a chemical which enters your bloodstream via skin/touch and kills HIV virus if present in small amounts.
Such a report if it is made to sound matter-of-fact, you can actually get more people to plant trees, even as a preventive to getting HIV - people will figure out that HIV from contaminated needles is also bad and so if you plant trees and keep a safety barrier, it will be great.
Most people want soundbites, cliches, and impressive concepts. Nature on the other hand has many simple rules, when chained together can make very complex systems.
Great changes can be started by simple steps.
But our fate dictates that we do not step aside even one moment to see where we are heading.

Question is not how many died so far. Question is how fast it sreads and how much % of of the patients die? It seems ir spread relatively fast. We don't know yet how deadly is this flu. Some people died in Mexico but we don't know excat percentage of the patients. Its better to be on cautious.
