Hats off to Dr. Amar Bose !!
I am a frequent flyer and often fly first class. 90% of the airline passengers have the Bose QC2 or the QC3 headphones. It is very heartening to see a brand that was created by a person of Indian origin.
Congratulations Dr. Bose, You have made the Indians proud !!

Unfortunately QC/1/2/3/ are all assembled in China.
QC1 ear muffs peel away and QC2 plastic gives away just within 1 year of use.

Products Noise cancellation is OK but material quality is SHODDY.

Quality of Construction material of QC1 & QC2 is bad. Since product is made in China.
I do not plan to go for QC3 for that reason.
Performance is no issue,

Well, actually I think that rich people and smart people should make lot of money and win lot of award and stay away from charity work or trying to improve India.

The responsiblity to improve india currently lies in the hands of uneducated, muscle men like myself and many similar notable induvidual like mother theresa.

Mother teresa shot to fame with her evil work in bengal, what did she do, she muscles her self to money in the western world and she does what with it. Buys peoples support. Look at her place it is like revisiting 1942, she & her organisation has all the money and world and still live in shackle like me.

While I shot fame destroying the missionary work in neibouring states.I muscle my way to money exploiting buusineesmen like her.

But one thing we have in common is muscle and rich people money and poor peoples fear. But she has the media sympathy but I am na unknown. Let me keep it that way. still unbeatable combo.

So smart people leave us alone, me & mother teresa. Let us cut the deal, you pay us money.
we do great to our country.

many thugs go in and out of church to collect goodies and then shower to go temple to purify. some good tribals among them plant Indian God's in church. Others openly stand up to it.
There is yet another organization who want people to come back home after they have been brain washed.

To all the critics and detractors of Amar Bose in this forum, I only have one question to you : how many patents do you hold ?

If you haven't even filed a patent in your life, then I don't see how you can criticize Amar Bose's contribution to the society !!!

no problem or doubt about how intelligent Bose is, have you ever heard any sizable number of ghora's working and patenting for india. they make us build it for them OR make some useless by making them do menial stuff. No problems with that either, afterall we have lost few centuries, now we are tail coating a monster and building it's might

He has made us proud. He is not only a world class inventor but also a hugely successful entrepreneur.
With all the due respect to Dr. Bose. How many Bose equipments are available at a affordable price in India. I personally believe technology wins only if reaches to masses. What is his contribution to India?

Talking about the patenting and IPR why cant we give a similar credit to Dr. Mashelkar who fought for the patents for Basamti and Turmeric.

For those who don't know.
Amar Bose was born in 1929 in Pennsylvalia, USA to Noni Gopal Bose and a European-American mother Charlotte.
Also, he suffered from racism in his childhood from both adults and children in his neighborhood. Beaten up sometimes. These challenges make people tough!

Why are you all comparing Mother Teresa etc with Boss.
Mother Teresa and many others were spiritual innovating people where as Boss is a technology based. Spiritual and Technological people are not comparable while both should be held in high esteem. Spirituals lead and try to help in daily life just physical and mental help where as technological people are creative in producing and developing technological equipment that can help similar people and many more.
All those spiritual leaders who have used equipment as simple as wheelchairs or crutches to walk is the work of technological people. Equipment used in hospitals and in general life is not the work of Like of Mother Teresa etc.
Both are great people but not comparable.

Just to make your search easy have a look at this site.
0 dot dealtime dot co dot uk/xPF %u2013 Bose %u2013 Acoustimass %u2013 15
Remove the spaces replace DOT with . type it as it is with caps where caps are.
And you can read all about it.
And if you live in UK go for a live demo and have a play with the system in Comet warehouse near you.

I haven't seen such a model either.

Technically, you could use Bose Link to convert all your speakers to wireless but I would not use that for my center and front channels which sit right next to the receiver.

On another note, I can't help but feel proud of Bose regardless of his place of birth.

Sure we are proud of Him.
by the way you have fredom to place your speaker as you feel best since there are no wires to connect.
They are designed to to be placed just like wired speakers.
If you have a fine wood work and flooring beautifully French polished I doubt very much you will allow any one to run wires on it.

Foreign power have it planned very well for themselves
by D S on Mar 12, 2008 07:54 PM  | Hide replies

Foreign system want to utilize India/World talent in India or in foreign countries to enhance their designs/wellness/power OR waste them (into horrible conditions) such that they are of NO use to their own nation(such as India) or be a threat.
LONG DISCUSSION, we Indian have lost few centuries (colonization, bad politicians, etc. ) to miss the technology curve to gain world markets and have military/science hold, can we afford to waste more??

what do we have to be proud of?
by venkat narayanan narayanan on Mar 12, 2008 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

What do we have to be proud of this achievement. Mr. Bose has done this and Mr.Bose has done that.. all from a foreign soil and for the foreign soil.. If its just his nationality that invokes the true indian spirit, then I wud say that its bullshit, People like him should be termed as traitors and not be felt proud about. Agreed that he earned all his degrees and education from an alien country but if he had any love for his own country where he hailed from, he could and should have come back and done quite a lot for his own country. and It looks to me like, with all these kind of people serving for india, India would have surpassed the western world a long time back and would have been a developed country now and not a "ever-developing" country.

My friends and fellow Indians, I am not a pessimist and I have learnt to appreciate good things with all my heart. But this news doesnt interest me. I just dont know why.. and look at the other greats who have done the country proud with their intellectual property.. people like Mr. Abdul Kalam, Homi Baba, CV Raman, Chandrashekhar, and a lot more. the list can be endless.. its people like these that we need to feel proud about and not some Bose....

Hi Mayukh,
Appreciate your response to my post and your write up was impressive. All said and done, I dont understand what you mean when you say that I have a biased feeling. If you could be a little clear on that...? on the contrary, I can say that you are being biased or the person whom we are arguing upon was biased. I AM aware of the fact that Mr.Bose came to India, precisely to Calcutta, the state where he hailed from and unfortunatel he was shown the door. But why should he have turned his back on India in entirety? He could still have approached any other enterprising state. I am sure he could have struck a deal with any of the 25 states.. Why didnt he do that? Do you know? I dont know. And, when you say that you have benefitted ouot of Bose's technology, did u also realize that it left a big hole in your pocket? I am sure you wouldnt have. Otherwise you wouldnt have offered to advocate for one of your state's men. Again, my friend I am being absolutely impartial and unbiased here. I respect the intellectuals of Bengals as much as I do anyone else from anywhere in India and for that matter from anywhere in the world. For the benefit of "mankind", as you say, a lot of people have done a lot of things and so has Mr.Bose. But my point is, specifically to India, he hasnt done anything, and I am sure you would agree after reading this post, that citing the denial of the then CPM government as a reason is foolish because, my friend, INDIA is not just West Bengal and West B

Hi Venkat,

I accept that Bose didn't cause an impact in Indian society or economy. I also accept that there is no point being proud about Bose just because his father was an Indian. However, we have to applaud the achievements of Mr. Bose as a human being who strive for fellow human beings through science. A few thousands left India and did great things. What we millions do here in India - blaming our politicians and scavenging on our glorious past? Are you sure if Bose was born here, he would have become what he is now? We dont know that. He identified a scientist in him in his childhood in the US. Its more to do with the environmental factors. We can just hope that our future generation (including your children) to become like Bose and do good things to our country.

Is there any organisation,Company who will fund such a research.
Even big guns such as TATA,Ambanis,Birlas are not interested in the first place.
It has been a long standing attitude of Indians that there is no need of research and development in any form or level.
India believe in buying from other countries and then copying it.
That is why there is no export of technology from India, India does not have technology to sell.
India hasn't developed or invented any.
The contribution of India in the field of technology and development is a big ZERO.
