Thanks for writing a brilliant opinion piece Ninan. It is a rare occasion to read an 'Indian' putting forward the crux of the problems of India. Society has always been changed by a handful and not by the masses. What India needs is the right dose of that handful and presto we will have a new India. India is too precious to be lost this way. I believe more and more Indians will realize that. Even though your message sounded cynical here it is very inspiring for me.

Our system is such that we just cannot change it -
We are a Democracy - Democracies are not for the underfed undereducated and underprivileged - they can never understand democratic rights - because they do not even know if they have any rights!!!

How do you conclude you cannot change it without knowing or understanding what a democracy stands for?

Democracy does not stand for minority pampering of the highest order; that is what your community is demanding and enjoying through vote bank blackmailing. Islam and democracy can never go together. Unless the existing tenets of Islam are changed, the situation will go on getting worse eventurally leading to an inevitable civil war.

Accept your fault
by MNS Activist on Dec 20, 2008 05:47 PM

Common man of India, just gets drifted by media.
He only says Politicians are corrupt..save us from those etc..

Most of the blogs are like this only..

They should understand that this the failure of not only politicians but people also, who elect them.

In a democracy, people get the government they deserve...

People should stop blaming politicians & start working as active political / social workers..

Nobody can progress by blaming others..

by Jagjeet Singh on Dec 20, 2008 05:47 PM

There is no point of expecting from mere rehotic from our foreign minister " all options will be excersised if Pak Does not Respond " when his Madam Sonia is could not throw out his own Antulay.
Where are those people who shouted and gathered in Mumbai to shout slogan for our Martyres including Mr. Karkare. Why donot we ban Antulay entery to his home town in Mahrashtra till he resign and apologise Publicily.

Stop the withchunt and make the case watertight
by Nawab Sahab on Dec 20, 2008 05:44 PM  | Hide replies

If Antulay has raised a question about the circumstances related to the death of 3 top investigating officers then why this witch hunt. Agreed it is a difficult question but then rather than criticize a parliamentarian for raising a diifcult question, that ideally the media should be asking, the governement should seek to answer it.

Atleast Antualay had the courage to raise a valid question. And unless India is prepared with the answers to these questions, how can it mount a diplomatic offensive against Pakistan? Surely the Indian analyst of Pakistan would have also taken note of this fact that this terror assault in Mumbai resulted in the death of these top ATS officers investigating a highly sensitive case involving internal terrorism! The spin that has been given by BJP that Antulay's questioning hampers India's efforts in isolating Pakistan are fallacious. If at all India this approach of tying all the loose ends will only fortify India's case. and why is the BJP so defensive about it? Why is it so much against the investigation! Not that there has been ever any succesful conclusion of any investigations here, be they Bofors or Havala or any! Does it have anything to hide? I hope not!

Asking Antulay to resign or vilifying him, is like shooting the messenger, but counter-productive. The questions raised by him still stand!

I have heard many Muslims says openly that “9/11 attacks on World Trade Center” in USA was done by Jews and now there are mails circulating on the internet that the attacks in Mumbai were conducted by Jews and Hindus to gain sympathy or some crap. These people simply cannot hear or see the truth even with enough proof around that the act was done by Muslims and not by Jews or Hindus but as always they point fingers on others and try to create controversies and conveniently blame others so that their community is blame free of any wrongdoing committed by their co-religionist.

The ATS officers were sent to the Hospital and once there were gunned down, and their vehicle was used by those terorists to flee the scene of crime! Is it not striking that unlike the Oberoi and Taj, the terrorists at the hostpital did not take any hostages at the hospital. Why? Was'nt this what their associates at the hotels doing! So in effect they were waiting to target the ATS team for reasons still unexplained!

This is what the investigation should bring out. What is so wrong about it? There are questions screaming at us and we are trying to turn our face away!

Your last sentence about Antulay is your opinion, and being a democracy we all have our preferences, but you could ask for an investigation if you feel he is linked to ISI or Dawood, and it would be perfectly alright with me.

Musical chair

All the shout of this enough is enough is to make Congress to get up from the chair so this people will stop the music for the communal BJP to take up the chair.

If 100% of the population is going to vote how is that going to change things when Advani and Modi are silently applauded for what they did?

If 100% of the population is going to vote how is that going to change things when Kashmiri minority community are languishing in makeshift camps living like refugees in their own country, when they are being killed by the hundreds in that State or when several bomb blasts culminating in the recent Mumbai massacre killing thousands of people have taken place, courtesy a particular community and their masters across the border.

Who will employ his goons whose expertise is in creating riots and disrupting life in Mumbai. Who wants him to extend his theory to the rest of India.God alone can save India from him!

Wonderful it seems ur brains are in ur butt.Despite all these u still fight for ur boss for the Marathi's cause. Wat did ur boss do for Marathi's manoos. Did he prevent the attack or did he dare attack those terrorists who were holed up in Taj or Oberoi. Why dint ur gutsy boss save ur Marathi manoos then? You people should be killed first, who spoil the unity of India by dividing people of India on the lines of Language and state. You and ur boss will not learn lessons even if thousands of 26/11 takes place, you will still be fighting against UP and Bihar instead of fighting against the real terrorists. Shame on you.
