what about private sector ??
by Premananth Patharath on Aug 16, 2008 12:33 PM  | Hide replies

Election is scheduled for next year and Govt. is eyeing the vote bank - Rs. 60000 crores farmers and now Rs. 22000 crores for govt. employees. Govt. employees will get min. Rs. 10000/- p.m. even for a peon. What about employees in private sector ??
what is the min. wage in private sector ?? How much will get a peon or junior clerk in pvt. sector ? Govt. employees will work less and get more and pvt. sector employees has to work more and get less.
What is the justification for this by the governemnt??
Will this pay hike bring down corruption in govt. sector ?
But pay hike for defence sector is justifiable.

Your point is right , but it is this expolitation on which Pvt. Sector excel and majority of people call it efficiency. With the cost of living going high , the demand should be to have a min. wage for cadres across all sector. Then you see , where this efficiency goes.

Pay Commission
by VIVEK GOYAL on Aug 16, 2008 12:23 PM  | Hide replies

I believe that employees working in Defence,Teachers should be handsomely rewarded in the pay commission. If we see the ground reality our defence personnel who are keeping a constant vigil on the borders to stop any infiltration & only because of these the country sleeps at night. Our teachers who are in this noble profession to prepare future of the country by imparting education to the students work under conditions wherein no fans in the classrooms are available, no proper buildings for students etc .
Last but not the least PSU employees should be given more & more responsibilities as they are least bothered about the work & more concerned about the undertable that is coming to them.
There has to be some strict laws for those who are really corrupt as corruption is like a menance and it should be removed from the system for a better and healthy enviornment.

PSU is not the same as Government 'service' departments. Most of the loss in productivity is in the departments that provide essential services.....Passport offices, Municipalities, MRO Offices, RTA offices, Govt Hospitals etc. not as much in BHEL, HAL kind of companies, although they should improve too.

21%
by pk k on Aug 16, 2008 12:18 PM

All u Govt employees do not celebrate on seeing the fig of 21% (or 40% - the fig discovered earlier) .The actual fig will work out to be just 10% - 12 % only. I must say our FM and his IAS subordinates are really very clever at juggling figures.

BS Reporer - Are you an Idiot ?
by raheem vaheed on Aug 16, 2008 12:09 PM

Unusually high Pay hikes for government employees without corresponding increases in productivity is the same as money lost by writing off loans or given away as subsidies.

Is your father or spouse or son or daughter or son-in-law or daughter-in-law employed as a government officer? And, are they working in officer or above grades? It seems your worries about fiscal deficits do not seem to stop you from justifying (even demanding) higher pays for unproductive and unresponsive government staff, especially the 'sarkari babus'.
