Problem with this Approach

Yes...This is article is truly true. No question about it. But.....just see how much money he invested at 1956 ...a WHOPPING $105000 !!!!

Even after 50 years now , $105,000 is consider a big big money for lot of us. He become a billionare and is now $45billion after 50 years !!! Is anybody surprised ??? Certainly I'm not. This , as the article itself proclaims , is only 20% growth compounded annually. This means that if someone is ready to invest $105,000 in the current market today have to wait for 50 years to make 45 billion !!!

Currently , any best mutual funds are providing a better results but people still buy and sell stocks themselves. People always keep booking profits as and when possibile . Why ???

In the current day scenario , people want to live their current life richer and not invest and wait for the future. The asian markets provide that oppurtunity for quick money in the form of Options , Futures , Margin Trading etc. If you have sound technique , guts and risk taking apetite , you can convert Rs. 1 lakh to Rs.10 lakh in the span of six months...No Joke....I know people who have done it in our Indian Market ....!

Otherwise, invest just like Buffett and when you become a billionare at the age of 70 , donate everything to charity (What else you can do with the money at that age ? )

Just my thoughts.

You can do it once a while, but as your capital grows, your ROI always drops. His greatness in in maintaining the ROI over such a long period, match that.

tell me Peter why would you need guts to donate 45 billion in charity? in the twilight of one's age and with no progeny, donating in charity is the only option left & thus not a brave deed!

If he donates 45 billion at the age of 45 then it is a brave deed. Then he is a great man.

HEy you are saying people make 10 lacs out of 1 lac in six months but have you any time noticed that some of the companies like tata, birlas, ford, reliance, & others are there for more than 5 decades even then they hav not made such a growth. Warrent Buffetc added nearly 6 bn for 2 years whereas before this bullrun in BSE Mukesh's property was around 6-7 bn and now this has risen just on paper. He cannot realise that money.
