Yes you are right. Muslims are bearing Children at 5 per family and others struggle to have one. This 5 Geometrically progresses ( 5, 25, 625.... and so on ) and it will become an Islamic country.
India's booming economy is like a costly dress on cancer patient, the poverty and growing number of illness effect the poor , while the rich making money. Our India is considered as land of poor not these multinational companies whose only intention is to make profits.

Your India might be considered the land of beggers but not my India and nor the India of billion people like me. We are what we think --- if you think yourself to be a begger then you might be - we think ourself to be the industrial might therefore we are.

I do respect your sentiments towards our country but I do agree with sree as well. I was appalled to learn that a Dalit woman was burnt alive yesterday. This really forces us to think are we really developing ??

I agree to you. But tell me, is this not the case with the so called "super power" America? Rich getting richer & poor getting poorer
Power is the Biggest factor for failing India. My own view is available power is more like 30% short of Mean demand. This is due to lack of WILL on the part of professional politicians (necessary evils though)who allow by example & their deed to electricity theft rampantly. I as an Electrical Engineer could say that transmission loss can't be more than 8% under worst circumstances. But then some reknowned politician ( one ex- C.M's & his son's) Constituency have not seen any electricity bill for years. How can one imagine that other lesser mortal will bother about to pay for electricity? Tecnology exist to record & detect theft if only an appropriate system is installed. But how could one expect that, when tht would mean loss of VOTES. Obviously, everybpody remains mum on it. Even then we achieve 8 or 9% growth miraculously by the mercy of some some unknown factor, call him God or by any other name.

I have already made several complaints to superior level about theft of electricity in my own flat. This guy is running an electrical business serving (of late only) some BPO. Looks like he roped in JE, SE to make some money in the deal with BPO. Forget about politicians, or some big shots, now in the lower rung the theft is on and on...All my cries have been in vain so far..and this guy is openly threatening my living here in this place. Now he is trying spreading rumours about me.

I suppose the factor can be called IT or Outsourcing or realizing potential of young human capital.
India is a countyr where the rivers are worshipped but the same are polluted extensively, some beyond repair. Per a WHO and UN report, India leads the ranking of countires with severe water problems (includes shortages and pollution) Furthermore the government has done nothing major yet to improve the situation. Vajpayee's dream of connecting the rivers is so far nothing but a dream...with realization no where in sight. Globally water is being considered as the Oil of the 21st century...In India we are still ignorant about the long term (5-10 years) impacts of our current mechanisms to manage water

...and when they do some work...like repairing the road..they are keen to create more jobs for themselves...by filling potholes, they make it a bump...possibly just before the road has some electrical, drainage work ..so that they can rework spending more and more tax money uselessly. When I tried to stop and question the quality, they gave a blank look, as if to ask who am I to bother when the whole lot of people on the road never bothered so far...
The biggest danger to indian economy is that indian dont understand the root of economic progress. Its buying/selling. very simple. If we keep doing it or consuming/ buy or throw it. That will keep the cycle moving. We should learn from developed society.
RE:Good consumer, must for economy
by ramana on Sep 23, 2007 08:54 PM
what does developed country means? Physical comforts. No. Not at all. Happyness and satisfaction is the ultimate goal.
The 6 mentioned are just the secondary. Primarily its the lack of proper system and political will to adopt them. Why cant we learn from developed countries? We know how to copy very well. Why not the good things, such as civic sense, etc. As long as we have netas who devided us based on caste and religion, there is no need to discuss other issues.
