Are you speaking the TRUTH or kidding, Scott?
by David Raja on May 22, 2007 05:11 PM  | Hide replies

Hi Scott, I don't know where from you got this notion. I really pity you. I will tell you few incidents. Do you know MG Road in Bangalore. There are so many crossings. The moment a two wheeler crosses the line he is being fined.
1.Does all the money being fined recorded?
2.Are the policemen giving the original bills for the money we are paying?

Recently, we have to change the electricity connection from one building to another building in my home. Do you know how much money I had to pay that Supervisor?

"Before paying the money how many times we had to run behind that guy even though we had all the bills and it is just that the guy had to sign and tell - ok, change the connections."

Just because you are sitting in some AC Room and have some people below you who do things when you ask for them don't tell such things.
Or are you telling it for the sake of publicity?

Have you ever gone to "Registrars Office" near your place? Have you tried to get a Birth Certificate?

Have you gone to your local police station as an ordinary man and complained about some injustice?
Leave that... have you atleast accompanied someone to the police station for the Passport Verification [address]?
Do you know what happens?

Scott, please be realistic. Don't just talk for the sake of talking and gaining publicity.

Have the courage to talk like a "MAN" and let the world know how much "BRIBERY" is "Growing day after day".... forget all I said.....

Have you gone to a Government Hospital to get the "DEAD BODY FROM MORTUARY?".....

Speak now Scott.......

If you read the article, he has clearly said that curroption is down at the highest level, while it may not be the case at lowere leve, and we all know what the truth is.
All that he is saying is that big ticket purchases like defence equipment, aircrafts etc are now relatively free from corruption and hopefully he knows what he is talking about...

Nice to hear.... somebody supporting Scott. Well, I suppose not everyone in this country is travelling by Aeroplanes, nor we are sure when the next scandal will come out.
Do you atleast remember time when Bofors scandal came out in public?
Scott, maybe saying things have come down.
But who knows when the next scandal will break out?
Touch your heart and tell ~ do you believe in the words of Scott? Just wait for some years and you will learn the Truth

corruption in India
by KS Rajan on May 22, 2007 04:58 PM  | Hide replies

Corruption in India will prevail. Look at New Delhi Roads. the Policemen with a note book and collecting bribe money on a monthly basis from BlueLine Bus Operators. Is it not watched by Vigilance/IB/CBI/Local CIDs

GE's boss is insulated from corruption
by Lokayuktakarnataka on May 22, 2007 04:35 PM  | Hide replies

I appreciate his views on various aspects. However, as far as corruption is concerned, he is definitely insulated from the rotten system. Usually, large corporates engage 'consultants' who will then interact with the government servants (?) and add the bribe to their fees along with suitable markup and submit 'consultant charges" to the company. Any one dealing with any government department would vouch that oflate, the corruption has increased by leaps and bounds.

The GE Chief's Assessment of corruption in India is a totally misconceived notion
by srinivasa rao on May 22, 2007 04:20 PM

It is a wrong perception that corruption is on decline in India and this is certainly not based on ground realities. Corruption at every level in this country has assumed alarming proportions as conviction rate is low and cases are dragged on endlessly in courts.

Bribery
by arungopal agarwal on May 22, 2007 04:09 PM

No doubt, this is bound to come down due to technological upgradation(computerisation at many places) and prosperity.
But our speed of getting it down is very slow due to politicians, mafias, criminals nexus and no acton/delayed action on offenders.
