News is no longer news. Have we confused the word "entertainment" with "media".I think they are not only two different terminologies but also a part of two different cycles in the broadcasting industry.
The change in the societal preferences are being tapped to satiate personal interests of the owners of these news channels.
If we want a newer India emerging we must develop progressive viewership through channels that delineate themselves from sex and sleaze.Spend more time on matters that can reshape the country's outlook.Dont carry out this farcical campaign of civilized prostitution to gain a market share.

From covering divorces, marital discords and taking interviews of warring factions of a family as if somebody%u2019s misery is the nation%u2019s business to a detailed half-hour, coverage of two pet dogs married off in Ahmedabad, tabloid journalism%u2019s ugly face is now the unfortunate reality of our TV. Crime shows telecasted on these TV channels add to our woes (a TV host of one of such shows %u2013 I don%u2019t recollect which Hindi TV channel I saw that on %u2013 actually wears a police uniform as a costume!) As a fellow journalist, my heart bleeds when I watch my profession going down the drains, into the gutter, with every passing day.
The article is right in pointing out that tabloid journalism is rampant not only on India TV but also on Zee News, Aaj Tak and Star News. However, I do not think banning anything is the answer, because it unnecessary stirs a hornet's nest. Responsible censorship may be the answer or the short-term solution. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with us %u2013 the viewer. Viewers clearly want to see cheap news, sex and sleaze on TV news and they get cheap thrills out of watching such mundane news. If viewers accept responsibility and understand that such cheap news telecasted by such unscrupulous Hindi news channels like India TV, Zee News, Aaj Tak and Star News is of no good use to anyone, automatically these channels would be forced to change their strategies. Even channels like BBC and CNN report such tabloid news, but in a more sop

...continued from my previous post....
Even channels like BBC and CNN report such tabloid news, but in a more sophisticated form. Nine out of ten reports on any given day in their news pertain to clashes and violence throughout the world. When have they ever reported any positive news emanating from developing nations! If only viewers wake up and switch off such news channels, will the Hindi news channels - and many of their English counterparts too - learn their lesson.
I was quite surprised to see that Headlines today on a prime time was airing a news about a girl fan of mahendar singh Dhoni and upon that even interviewing that girl about her liking for him,is this news on prime time ?

really it was non- news ,what was the fun of projecting such idiot girl . media is not playing a decent role ,what was the education in such prog......stop it..improve ur standard...
The standard of HINDI news and news papers is very downgrade even they can not be considered as news channels. Every negative news or the news which bracks moral bounds of society highlighted by these narrow minded peoples running such shameless newses for the whole day claiming live telecast. They try to highlight sorrows of peoples to gather all sympathy and making their ratings high.

the standard of hindi news channels s going very low . we must stop watching such chennels ....... Dr. Kaul
What was earlier in the print media has now come to the electronic media. There are a number of tabloids which are selling only on account of sex and sleazy stories and they are selling big time. So why raise eyebrows when a television channel does it??
Infact in Kannada there is a tabloid called Hai Bangalore. Publishes the bedroom stories and sleaze along with underworld news. This is one of the highest circulated weekly in karnataka!!
Instead of concentrating on FTV and AXN, our Ministry of Information and Broadcasting should concentrate on our own desi channels who are becoming cheap and vulgar day by day to promote their TRPs. Government should ban all channels who show any programmes other than news for all news channels. News channels should not become entertainment channels.

I agree with Chella. These media people are slaves to their foreign masters. They are here to destroy Indian cultute. They are biased against the Hindus. They always try to brainwash us.It appears that there are some motives/agenda behind the reporting done by these pseudosecular and extra intelligent(?) media people.I donot expect any action from this Govt whose members are out and out communal.
